Introduction of thinking:
Thinking is the base of all cognitive activities or processes and is unique to human beings. It
involves manipulation and analysis of information received from the environment. Therefore,
thinking is a higher-level mental activity that allows us to alter and examine previously learned
or already existing information. Such manipulation and analysis involve abstracting, thinking,
envisioning, solving problems, judging, and making decisions. Most of the time, thinking is
ordered and focused.
Importance of thinking
Our thoughts are the single most important physical item in determining our destiny. Thinking
and planning ensures a person avoids problems and bad situations and helps his achieve his
interest and goals. How we think will dictate how we feel and how we react to situations in life.
That, in turn, will determine our success or failure. The kind of thoughts we let to enter our
minds is crucial because they programme our lives at a rate of 1300 to 1800 words per minute,
24 hours a day. It matters what kind of music we listen to, what kind of friends we have, and
what kind of TV shows we watch. Our programming will be mostly negative if we are frequently
exposed to negative stimuli, which will hamper our ability to live happy, healthy lives.
Types of thinking
The following categories apply to thinking:
3. Reflective Thinking:
This way of thinking focuses on rearranging all the relevant experiences to a scenario or
removing impediments rather than connecting with those experiences or ideas in order to solve
intricate challenges.
4. Creative Thinking:
One's capacity to build anything brand-new, novel, or exceptional is linked to this way of
thinking. It seeks out fresh connections and linkages to explain and interpret the nature of things,
occasions, and circumstances. Here, the individual typically creates the evidence on their own
and instruments for solving it. For instance, scientists, creative, and inventors.
5. Critical thinking:
It is a way of thinking that enables one to examine many religions and ideologies while putting
aside personal convictions, biases, and viewpoints even at the cost of his core beliefs, to find the
truth. To make the appropriate interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference in this situation,
one turns to higher cognitive abilities and skills, as well as a rational, objective, and self-
regulatory explanation of the information that has been gathered or transmitted that results in a
decision.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, thinking has a significant impact on how we see the world, make decisions,
resolve issues, control our emotions, develop our relationships, and accomplish our goals. A
more successful and fulfilling life can result from developing a thoughtful and positive thought
process.
