Assignment Objective:

Upon completion of this assignment, the students shall be able to:

1. Develop better self-awareness of the stress experiences in their personal lives.

2. Develop a good understanding of reactions to stress according to the Hans Selye Model.

Dear students,

You are required to go through lesson 6 of your course to look upon the two types of stress
and to understand the stress reaction model proposed by Hans Selye in this assignment so that
you can attempt the assignment without any confusion.

Question 1: Explain how Eustress and Distress can affect an individual’s problem solving
abilities.

Question 2: You are being questioned about the stress reaction model proposed by Hans

Selye. You have to read the scenarios and first identify the stages of the model depicted in
each scenario and then you have to list down the psychological effects (at least three)
experienced in that particular stage. 15

Though fatigued and

she navigates
challenges with
optimism.
Recognizing this
phase's critical nature,
she pushes herself and
her team to persevere,
confident in
overcoming obstacles.

3. Ali, a Pakistani Alarm - Anxiety


corporate worker,
struggles with an (Stage 1) - Irritability
increased workload - Overwhelm
after company
restructuring. He feels
overwhelmed by
urgent tasks and tight
deadlines,
experiencing physical
symptoms like
headaches and
irritability.
Despite feeling on
edge, he pushes
through the day,
neglecting his well-
being.
Recognizing his
escalating stress
levels, Ali
acknowledges the
need to seek support
and prioritize self-care
to manage his
workload better and
maintain his health.
