Modern day pop stars are taking roles above just being national idols, in fact they are
starting to impact the economy more than taxes. For artists such as Taylor Swift, it’s been an
ongoing situation for some time now. After her unexpected blow up, Swift has managed to bring
in almost 4.6 billion dollars (Bhanage 1). Critics explain this growth has come from multiple
countries through sales during her most recent tour (The Eras Tour) along with merchandise and
website sales from the re-creation of her previous albums. For instance, authors like Carolyn
Tripp, Gina Arnold, and Theburge agree along with many more and explain that Taylor Swifts’
success and growth in income come from the buildup of touring, success in multiple music
genres, and hard working effort, are things that make Taylor Swift THE music industry.Taylor
To begin with, artists come and go as they phase out of the spotlight through media,
whether it be through musical notes, or relationships brought up through domino effects. Taylor
Swift has managed to make a name for herself through her million dollar decisions which
impacts society in more ways than anyone can imagine. For example, her influence in young
audiences is brutally noticeable on trending topics and what Gen-Z considers “hip”. However,
many environmentalists argue that these do not make up for her proactive status in the
environment in a commendable way due to previous actions that are believed to have been swept
under the rug, specifically her traveling habits during the eras tour. Due to her extensive net

worth, unless surrounded by security all around could be in immense danger to any minor
deflections. With reasons as high risk as those, leaves her without many transportation options.
The main point that seems to be consistently brought up is her carbon emissions released back in
2011 from her private jet had recently hit a peak in 2022. A study conducted by the Yard was
analyzed through the lenses of author Carras and claimed that Swift’s emissions are 1,184 times
the average person, providing evidence such as her estimated air times from January to July
(Carras 2022). The results came to an astonishing 170 flights, equivalent to a full 16 days in the
sky. In contrast, author Carolyn Tripp and scholars argue that these emissions are not proven to
be solely produced by Swift. Dassault Falcon 900LX (Taylors private jet) gets loaned out to
other celebrities regularly, placing a big emphasis on the inconsistency of facts blaming Swift
entirely for the full amount, as the majority of time spent in her hometown. Additionally a
keynote to keep in mind is Taylors safety, the public can’t expect the same treatment (travel
Secondly, Taylor Swift is known for her masterpiece lyrics, the soundtracks that
accompany the theatrics featured in music videos, are factors which hold significant influence in
determining if a song will dominate charts. Besides having multiple albums out in a variety of
genres, she’s managed to put out hit’s in categories not commonly successful in, for example, in
the folklore soundtrack released during quarantine. Taylor was able to read her audience
surpassing the fear of not creating success, keep in mind she had originally started in country, her
triumph in the new genres came as a surprise as time after time she has proven to manage her
own success.Despite her popular heartfelt words in albums such as folklore, foreign authors such
as Macrorie (2) argue the importance of hypocrisy and the need to bring deeper awareness rather
than surface level no matter the chain of commandment (Macrorie 1954).Swift features many

lyrics including one way or another the beauty of nature, and even features two album covers in
deep rooted forest.First Folklore, released july 24, she’s featured in a long coat staring at the tall
trees above her, surrounding both left and right. The sister album is Evernmore, which is also
Swift in a forest looking out towards the once again featured tall trees. One may want to bring up
her negative impact on nature, and the contrast it has with some lyrics including “Autumn leaves
falling down like pieces into place”(from her biggest hit All too well 10 minute version) hinting
at the flourishing environment around her. Critics circle back to the dangerous carbon emissions
being released by her jet on a daily basis, and may make her seem inexperienced, or almost like
she doesnt know what she's talking about. Although after attending NYU to receive her
doctorate, her experience in the music world has even more been accredited for.Besides he recent
albums being pop music genre, her newest album coming out in a few months, is indie, as
producer on most if not all of her sounds proves fairly well with her ability to control sounds to
her advantage. While some critics may argue that her sounds are not well developed, these
opinions are partially based on her older albums, formed when she was just a teenager, barely
Lastly, Because of how young Taylor started, a fresh perspective on the changing world
of music was eye opening to most. This gained recognition, because rather than staying behind,
in one genre, and being known for only that, instances like this happened to artists such as
Mariah Carrey, who got stuck with her singular song for the christmas times, “All I Want For
Christmas Is You”. Swift decided advice provided to her by her label (Taylor Nation), as it was
considered a bad business decisions, and was predicted to flop, as author Dave (4) say
“illuminates” cultures (Russel 193) .Many thought her exploration would risk the absence of
previous obtained audience in her already loved and well known genre (country), but the passion

Swift felt was undeniable.Slowly but steady she started practicing her marketing skills , and
found the biggest plot that would bring an extended amount of attention to her. It was one of her
more notorious acts of the 2000’s,while most people may not have noticed it, she implemented a
strategy of dating guys, and dragged attention to them around times when her new albums were
coming out (cao 4) yet still having fun in her teenage years, but what she wasn’t ready for was
the backlash she would later receive from this (Cao 2021).While many men in the early 2000’s
got praised for jumping from girl to girl, Swift unfortunately did not have this luck, as rather than
dating a guy, she was dating both a guy and the media, a lack of privacy in taylor’s love life
became a grand issue. Article after article seemed to all have something to say, however, instead
of letting it all catch up to her and therefore have a mental breakdown, she decided to instill this
anger into her lyrics which the audience claimed could be felt through the screen. In doing so,
taylor was able to reach a greater audience through her visible passion, and even more in tune
with audience compared to any other artist as she was always without fail the main songwriter
for each of her songs.Despite all her efforts to surpass the media hatred, critics still had
something to complain about, but this time not only attacking her love life, but also her coping
skills, and would constantly use the phrase “all she talks about is guys”. In 2017, Swift decided
to disappear from the internet, no one had seen her for almost a year, and only decided to make a
public appearance right before the dropping of her new album reputation. This album stunned
both audiences and critics as it seemed to wrap all her anger in one says author Gina Arnold and
fellow colleagues , as a sort of rebuttal to critics with lyrics such as “All the liars are calling me
one, no body’s heard of me for months, i'm doing better than I ever was” as the comeback of the
century.

In conclusion, many artists have their tedious ups and downs throughout their career in
the industry and results will almost always come down to their charisma, or likeness
probability.Taylor Swift is one of the best possible examples textbooks could use to describe
resilience in a person. Her immense experience in defining precedents set against her promotes
stability, and time after time she proceeds to always be one step ahead, half of time in ways
unheard of which comes off as surprises to critics. Despite the considerable criticism Ms.Swift
faces, her actions seem to scream louder than any words she could possibly ever say though
news, or social media platforms. In addition to actions, her ability to encourage similar actions to
the dedicated and supportive fans proves an unseen amount of dedication to not only her fans but
the world itself. She serves as an activist to many platform which is truly a rare sight for
celebrities as big as Taylor Swift. All in all, the previous stated information serves to prove the
positive impact Taylor swift can have in the economy and people with the help of her team, fans,
and most importantly, the belief she has in herself to do the right thing, despite all accusations.
