“Decoding”
Directions:
The class will be divided into four and each group will decode the encrypted
message by finding the equivalent letters on the set of numbers written. The
group who will be the first to decode the message will be the winner and will
gain extra points.

- What is ICT?
- What do I know about ICT?
2. What is the meaning of ICT?
- Information and Communications Technology (ICT) deals with the use of
different communication technologies such as mobile phones, radio,
television, computer, telephone and Internet to locate, send, and edit
information.
3. What is the origin of ICT?
- It started with the Abacus which was invented 3000 years before the
birth of Christ. It is made up of wooden frame with beads and rods
and can be used to perform addition, subtraction, division and
multiplication.
- In 1624, Wilhelm Schickard built the first four-function calculator
clock. This is a six-digit machine that could add, subtract, multiply and
divide.
- In 1833, the first general purpose computer was designed by Charles
Babbage. It is used to perform the most common computing task
such as typing and process information.
4. Who are the famous personalities behind ICT?
- Bill Gates- introduced Microsoft
- Steve Jobs- introduced Apple
- Mark Zuckerberg- pioneered Facebook
- Martha Lane Fox- developed last-minute.com which is an online
booking site for airlines, hotels and restaurants.
- Tim Berners Lee- invented the World Wide Web. It is the part of the
Internet that contains websites and webpages.
- Arthur C. Clarke-a science fiction writer who envisioned that
computers, communication and technology have a significant impact
on how man will deal with his everyday life.
i. Abstraction
The students will count numbers 1, 2, 3… until it reaches the last student and
I will randomly call a number. A student that corresponds to the number
mentioned will be given a question that he/she will going to answer to check
if they really understand the lesson.

Using the groupings earlier, each group will be given an envelope that
contains pieces of paper. Their task is to assemble those papers to form a
picture; once they are done one member of the group will go in front and
introduce who is in the picture.
