1.Scope of work

This work for execution of embedded Conduits at Proton Therapy Center including the following
activities:
1. Procurement and storage of approved material.
2. Installation & Testing.

2.Purpose

This method statement defines the responsibilities, and describes the activities and procedures to be
implemented at site in accordance with relevant project specifications, approved details, materials, of
embedded conduit work.

5.1 The Electrical Site Engineer (ESE) shall be responsible for the implementation of this Method
Statement.
A) Ensure availability of required material that compiled with approved submittal.

B) Ensure site Supervisor/ Foreman and Workmen assigned to do this job are specialist and well
trained.

C) Ensure availability of required tools/ equipment’s at site in good operating condition.

5.2 The LLJV Surveyor shall be responsible for providing the correct reference, elevation, invert level,
location and position at site if required.
5.2.1 The Electrical Foreman shall be responsible for the following:
5.2.1.1 Guide the Workmen to execute the work in a safe manner..
5.2.1.2 Check the material is approved.
5.2.1.3 Installation works are undertaken in accordance with recognized procedure
5.3 Electrical Quality Control Inspector (EQCI)shall be responsible for the following:
5.3.1 Continuously monitoring site execution work and material to be ensure compliance with
approved Project Specifications.
5.3.2 Timely inspections with Site Engineer/ staff. . Ensuring the works are compliant & complete
prior to issuing for inspection to LLJV & DAR.

6.Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment

The safety measures for this work, especially in the proper use of tools, equipment’s and materials
shall be mainly the responsibility of the Electrical Foreman. The ESE and Safety Engineer shall
oversee the proper implementation at site as per approved Project Specifications.
All safety risk shall be identified by MSE prior to work commencing & the relevant toolbox talk
initiated, if needed.

7.Procedures

7.1 Procurement, Delivery, Storage and Handling of Materials:

This activity shall be implemented as follows:


A) . All materials required by the task
scheduled shall be on site 24 hrs. before work commences.

B) Delivered material shall be checked
through relevant Material Infection Report (MIR) and stored in accordance with
manufacturer’s instructions.
C) All products shall be delivered in
manufacturer's original protective packaging.
D) All products shall be inspected at the
time of delivery for damage and for compliance with specifications.
E) Repair or remove any product found
damaged or not in accordance with the specifications immediately from the site
and replace. For repair undertake the Company's Representative's approval before
the proposed action.
F) Handle and store products as
recommended by the manufacturer, approved under Project Manufacturer's List, to
prevent damage and deterioration.
G) Store each conduit & fittings, stack
and handle into the final location in such a manner, and by such means, that
affords its total protection from damage. The manufacturer's recommendations
shall be taken as the minimum requirement.
H) Protect the products against damage
and the ambient conditions both during transport, site storage and immediately up
to the time, the products are installed. Protect the products from Electrical damage
and the effects of sunlight and heat, until the backfilling / casting operations have
been completed. All site storage areas shall be shaded.
I) Consider all safety aspects when
locating, planning and constructing conduits and fittings stacking areas, and while
stacking conduits.
7.1.1 Approved Manufacturer:
Procure all goods and products covered in these Specifications from manufacturers
listed in the Project Manufacturer's List or as per approved manufacturer.

5.2 Execution/ Installation:


7.1 .1 CONDUITS & FITTINGS:
a) General Installation:
 Rigid PVC conduit NEMA TC 2 type EPC-40-PVC or better shall be
used for conduit embedded in concrete or as per the approved material.
 Application of conduit sizes or type shall be based on Table 9 supplied
media pipes and conduits that must be embedded in concrete & Table 14

summary of required feed-through for PTE through radiation shielding
wall, Varian requirement or as per the approved materials.
 The runs of conduit work indicated on the Drawings are as accurate as
possible. They shall be taken as diagrammatic only and all conduit work
shall be installed in the neatest possible manner in the space available.
Where this involves special fittings or settings of conduit shall provide,
although they are not indicated on the drawings. Where possible,
conduit work shall be run parallel to or at right angles to the concrete re-
enforcement or building walls.
 Distance & required bending radius of each embedded conduit shall be
according to the description and comments at Table 9 & Table 14
Varian requirement as applicable.
 All conduits penetrating to wall or slab shall be provided with sleeve as
per approved material as applicable.
 All wall penetration shall be closed according to fire safety regulation or
as per an approved detail.
 Sealing elements and fire stopping assembly shall comply with the
requirements of ASTM-E814, UL-1479 and UL-2079 as applicable.
 Conduits support shall be fixed in the concrete re-enforcement to avoid
movement during and time of casting.
 End caps at the end openings must be installed directly after cleaning to
avoid dirt inlet during and after mounting.
 Comply with NFPA 70
 After a partial completion of the piping or system, checking shall be
done according to the system location, invert level, type sizes of material
installed according to the latest approved shop drawing and other
recognized reference document.

b) Joints / Connection:
 Fittings shall be suitable, match to conduit type and material.
 Use solvent-cemented joints in conduits and fittings and make watertight
according to manufacturer's instructions or as per approved materials.

TRENCH OR WALL CLOSING


a) General:
 Pouring of concrete shall be done upon completion and proper
implementation of these methods of installation.
 All embedded piping should PASS the required test before closing the
trench or walls.
