Business Case Risk


➢ Create and maintain a business justification for the project. This can be in any form ➢ Define an approach to managing risk for the project
➢ Review and update business justification in responses to decisions and events which may affect it ➢ Define how risks will be identified, assesses and responded to
➢ Define the management actions required to manage the business case and ensure desired ➢ Assess whether risks will impact the business case
outcomes are achieved ➢ Maintain a risk register to record risks
➢ Define and document the roles and responsibilities for the business case management ➢ Ensure risks are identified, assesses and managed during the project lifecycle
Organisation ➢ Use lessons to inform risk identification and management
➢ Define the projects organisation structure and roles. Include all mandated roles
➢ Document the rules for delegating a change authority responsibilities
Change
➢ Define the projects approach to communicating and engaging stakeholders
➢ Define a change control approach for the project
Quality ➢ Define how issues are defined and managed
➢ Define the project management approach to quality control and assurance ➢ Assess issues which may have an effect on the business case
➢ Define how the management of quality is communicated throughout the project lifecycle ➢ Define the roles and responsibilities for change control
➢ Define the roles and responsibilities for quality management ➢ Define how product baselines are created, maintained and controlled
➢ Specify explicit quality criteria for products in product descriptions ➢ Maintain an issue register and ensure project issues are captured, examined and managed
➢ Maintain records to provide evidence of quality activities undertaken ➢ Use lessons to inform issue identification and management
➢ Use lessons to inform quality planning

Plans Progress
➢ Ensure that plans enable the business case to be realised ➢ Define an approach to controlling progress for the project
➢ Have a least two management stages. One initiation and one delivery stage ➢ Manage the project by stages
➢ Produce a project plan for the project and stage plans for the stages ➢ Set tolerances for the project and manage by exception
➢ Use product-based planning for the project plan, stage plans and exception plans ➢ Review the business case when exceptions occur
➢ Produce specific plans for managing by exception ➢ Learn lessons relating to project controls
➢ Define the projects roles and responsibilities for planning
➢ Use lessons to inform planning
