Technomech Engineers pvr. tp.PIR Series Electromechanical Rotary Actuators are available in wide range of torque ratings from 2
Mkg. to 500 Mkg. for control of Air and Various Gases in Gas / Air Ducts used in various continuous
process industries like steel, Fertiliser, Petroleum, Chemical and Thermal Power Generation,
This range of Actuators with unitary functional design specifically for Damper and Control Valve
applications, does away with conventional quadrant worm operators used with Multiturn Actuators.
Apart from damper control, these Actuators can be adopted for direct control of any drives requiring
anangle of operation upto 180°.
IR Series Actuator basically consists of an Electric Motor, a Reduction Gear Unit with facility for
Manual Operation in case of power failure and a control unit incorporating Travel Limit Switches,
Torque Limit Switches and Position Transmitter,
MOTOR:
The totally enclosed singleithree phase squirrel cage, crane duty induction motors with low ines
rotors are used giving fast response on energisation and quick stoppage of the drive on de-energisation
ofthe Motor. Whenever necessary. Electro-magnetic or mechanical brake assist the drive stoppage to
offer an exceptionally low overshoot angle to enable high positional accuracy. The motor torque
rating selected, ensure a positive start to overcome static friction to manouvre sticky valves or
carryover sharp momentary overloads.
REDUCTIONUNIT:
‘The range uses compact double worm reduction gearing, resulting in the most compact drive systems,
‘The worm shafts are made from alloy steel and worm wheels of centrifugally cast Phosphor Bronze.
‘Worm Shaft and Worm Wheels are mounted on Taper Roller Bearings to take combined radial and
transverse loading. The Actuator incorporates a special manual drive feature for declutching the
motor whena manual drive is used.
CONTROLUNIT:
Travel Adjustment:
The Actuators are provided with Two Travel Limit Switches to cut of the power supply to the motor at
the end of predetermined limits. Generally; 1NO + 1NC Limit Switches are included which are rated
for 230 V, A.C. 5 Amps. asa standard, however —-2NO + 2NC Limit Switches are also provided on
request. Additional Limit Switches can be provided over total travel as per requirement.
Overload Protection:
Protection against over torquing is provided by means of bi-directional Torque Limit S
Limiting by Switching off the power to Motor is effected according to the traveling worm gear
principle. The worm which can be moved in the direction of its axis is held in Central Position to the
Worm Wheel by means of set of precompressed Springs. If a load exceeding the sct torque to the
output shaft; the worm is displaced axially from its central position to aciuate cam to operate the

‘Manual De-clutchable Handwheel shall be provided for Manual Operation in case of power failure.
ACCESSORIES:
1. POWER SWITCHING UNIT: A wall mounting unit; comprising of;
2 Electrically interlocked reversing contractars AC/DC.
1 Manual reset type overload bimetal relay, calibrated to suit the motor rating.
1415 V/240V or 110 V, single phase Control Transformer, whenever required.
3 OPEN, CLOSE & STOP Control Push Buttons.
2 RED & GREEN Indicating lamps to indicate OPEN/CLOSE position of the Servomotor.
5 HRC Fuses, 3 for 3 Phase AC Mains and 2 Control Circuit. Suitable termination and cable
entries provided.
2. REMOTE POSITION INDICATORS :

‘The Field mounted electronic unit converts changes in the resistance of a potentiometer into
uniform current signals of 0/4 .. 10 mA. This milliamp kit can be accommodated
unit or mounted separately near the servomotor.
4. ELECTRONIC POSITIONER:
Thisisasolid state servo device designed for manual or automatic control of Pl Servomotors.

This unit automatically directs the motor starter to open or close operation of PI Servomotor in
response ta several types of signals.

Manual Control is achieved by a command potentiometer mounted on this unit.
+ The automatic command signal can be a process variable as 1-3 V DC, OR 0/4
20 mA AC.
