1. ETL Testing Course Plan:

 DWH Concepts: As a ETL Tester/ETL Developer we need to work in DWH projects,


we will get requirement document in DWH terminology. If you want to analyze
requirements to prepare Test plan/Test cases we should have knowledge on DWH
Concepts.
 Database Concepts: As a ETL Tester if you want to execute any test cases we have
to prepare sql queries, for that reason we should have knowledge on Database
concepts. As part of course we will deal Teradata as Database.
 ETL Concepts: As a ETL Tester you should have knowledge on what is
Extraction/Transformation/Loading. For that reason we should have knowledge on
ETL concepts.
 ETL Tool: As a ETL Tester you should have knowledge on any one of ETL Tool. In
real time we are having two types of projects. In first type of project as ETL Tester
just we need to perform validations, in such projects you should have knowledge on
DB concepts only. In second type of projects as a ETL Tester we need to run the Jobs
to load data and we need to perform validations, in this kind of projects you should
have knowledge on both DB concepts and ETL Tool.
 ETL Testing concepts; As a ETL Tester you should have to understand how to
prepare ETL Test plan, ETL Test cases, ETL Test scripts, ETL Estimates , ETL Defects
and ETL Tester responsibilities.
 Project: After completion of course will give demonstration about real time Project.
Will provide practical sessions about project and will load data in to all lab systems.
You need to do practice to get hands on experience.

2. What is DWH:

If we need to understand about DWH, first we need to understand about Data. Because in
DWH projects we are dealing completely with data, ETL Developers will load data, ETL
Testers need to perform validations on data, end users will perform analysis on data. Like
complete DWH project is dealing with data.

Data: Collection of raw material in unorganized format. If we are having data in


unorganized format, End users can not able to perform any kind of analysis. Se we need
to convert data in to Understandable format

Information: After collection of unorganized data, we need to convert it in to organized


format. This format of data we can call it as Information.

With the help of information End users will get some knowledge, based on that they will
perform Analysis to take Decisions.

DWH: Collection of data from different sources and converts that in to Information
format for the purpose of doing Analysis to take Decisions. This process we can call as
Data warehousing.

3. Why we need DWH:

For the purpose of doing analysis of business and to take any kind of decisions by
depending on analysis, we should have to maintain DWH.

DWH is not a technology, it is a system which we need to build using technologies like
ETL Tools, Databases and Reporting Tools

4. Who all are End users DWH:

In a organization whomever is having analyzing and decision making capability all those
are End users of DWH.
