Dear World Bank Internship Committee,

I am writing with a fervent interest in the World Bank Internship Program, motivated by a vision where
data science not only informs but transforms international development strategies. I am Florence
Nguuni, a dedicated healthcare professional and data scientist aspiring to contribute to the World
Bank’s mission of alleviating poverty and enhancing shared prosperity.

In my pursuit of integrating data analytics with public health initiatives, I have come to appreciate the
pivotal role of evidence-based decision-making—a core principle that resonates with the World
Bank's approach. My journey through the realms of healthcare marketing and strategic planning has
been marked by a constant drive: to employ data for the greater good, transforming abstract numbers
into real-world impact.

Having honed my skills in crafting data-driven strategies, I have developed machine learning models
that serve as a compass to navigate the complex terrains of public health. These models, much like
the World Bank’s development indicators, are tools that when wielded with precision, can pinpoint
areas of need and measure the progress of our interventions.

My experiences as a Public Health Volunteer at KEMRI (Kenya Medical Research Institute) have
granted me a frontline perspective on healthcare challenges. I have witnessed the repercussions of
poverty on health and the rippling impact of empowering communities with data-led health
interventions. It is a small reflection of the global impact that the World Bank strives for.

The internship at the World Bank represents a convergence of my professional journey and personal
ethos. It is here that I see my passion for data science turning into palpable strategies that can
influence policy and improve lives. I am eager to bring my expertise to the table, to learn from
esteemed economists and development experts, and to contribute to a legacy of meaningful change.

I am enthralled by the opportunity to engage with projects that are at the forefront of sustainable
