at a school or other place of formal education.
n many countries, a person who wishes to become a teacher must first obtain professional
qualifications or credentials from a university or college.
The teacher may have to continue their education after they qualify.
Teacher may use a lesson plan to facilitate student learning, providing a course of study which
is called the Curriculum.
Teacher's role may vary among cultures.
Teachers may provide education instruction in literacy and numeracy, craftsmanship or
vocational training, the Arts, religion or spirituality, civics community roles, or life skills.
n some countries, formal education can take place through home schooling.
PROFESSONAL TEACHER is the licensed professional who possesses dignity and
reputation with high moral values as well as technical and professional competence..
She or he adheres to observes and practices a set of ethical and moral principles,
standards and values. (code of ethics of professional teachers, 1997)
s one who went through four to five year period of rigorous academic preparation in
teaching and one who is given a license to tach by the Board for Profefessional
Teachers of the Professional Regulation Commission after fulfilling requirements
prescribed by law such as passing the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).
Professional Teacher needs to be confident without being arrogant.

PROFESSONAL ATTRBUTES
The Professional Attributes standards are broad in their nature and include a number of
intra- and inter-personal skills central to teaching and learning. t is useful to pick out
some of the key terms within the nine standards, as these provide a clear indication of
what is expected of qualified teachers. Most notably, these are:

a commitment to high expectations
the development of positive relationships and values
an awareness of statutory frameworks
effective communication and collaboration with a range of stakeholders
and,
a commitment to critically reflective practice.
The professional attributes standards should be viewed as possessing interdependent
relationships with other key frameworks. An important aspect of teacher education
programmes is to support student teachers in their understanding of the complex nature
of teaching. To avoid an overly isolationist approach to professional attributes,
citizenship student teachers should be encouraged to critically examine four such
relationships.


Professional Teacher - Perceives himself/herself as someone who can effect change or
learning, (sense of efficacy) because she/he is an expert in what she/he teaches (subject
matter knowledge), and in how she teaches (pedagogical knowledge).

Tarik was a gardener at the local primary school. His job was to make sure the gardens and
lawns were kept neat and received enough water. Tarik was really keen on organising get-
