The Week Ahead


Week 0

07/08/2023 to 11/08/2023

Subject/Teacher Week Ahead Information

English My name is Ms. Abbie and I will be teaching 8B English this


year. Details of the course have been added to Google
Classroom and I will speak with the students about these in
the coming days. Our first week will focus on settling in,
developing classroom routines, group work norms, assessing
students levels and understanding expectations.

My name is Ms Chrystal and I will be teaching English for the


grade 8.C class this year. Information about the coursework is
available via Google classroom. During our first week at
school we will focus on establishing classroom norms,
discussing expectations, getting to know one another as well
as various base level assessments.

EAL My name is Ms. Abbie and I will be teaching your child


English this year. Details of the course have been added to
Google Classroom and I will speak with the students about
these in the coming days. Our first week will focus on settling
in, developing classroom routines, group work norms,
assessing students levels and understanding expectations.
Maths My name is Toby Mcfarlane. I will be teaching grade 11
mathematics this year. Details of the course which include an
overview and guide to the syllabus, as well as expectations
and marking criteria have been added to Google Classroom
and these will be gone through with the students over the
first week of school. Following this, students will be given
some activities to introduce the students to the course.

Science My name is Mr. Johann, and I will be teaching Science this


year. Details of the course have been added to Google
Classroom and we will speak with the students about these
in the coming days.
Our first week will focus on settling in, and learning
classroom expectations, classroom routines and an overview
of the coming year. We will also revise some essential skills
for Science, such as Lab Safety. My email is

regarding your child.

Humanities My name is Mr. Gautier (Mr.G.) and I will be teaching Grade 8


Humanities this year along with my colleague Mr. Shoulders.
Details of the course have been added to Google Classroom
and I will speak with the students about these in the coming
days. Our first week will focus on settling in, developing
classroom routines and understanding expectations and the
course requirements. We will also begin work on our first
Cambridge Global Perspectives unit of the year The Right To
Asylum as we begin to look into the causes and
consequences of the global refugee crisis.

Computing My name is Haris Receminto and I will be teaching year 8 for


Computing this year. Our first week will focus on settling in
and classroom routines/rules. Introduction to this course will
be discussed in the first week.

Korean Studies My name is Meera Kim and I will be teaching Korean


Language and Literature this year. I have been teaching in
Korea, Singapore and Thailand for 18 years and this is my first
year at TH. Course planner will be posted in the Google
classroom for this course. The first week we will focus on
expectations and course requirements.

Vietnamese studies - Vietnamese Literature (Ms. Quỳnh): My name is Ms. Quỳnh


and I will be teaching your child Vietnamese Literature this
year. Details of the course have been added to Google
Classroom and I will let the students know more in the
coming days. Besides, students will develop classroom rules
and routines, identify their learning aims, their needs and the
appropriate learning methods for them.

- Vietnamese History (Ms. Hương): My name is Ms. Hương


and I will be teaching your child Vietnamese History this year.
Details of the course have been added to Google Classroom
and I will let the students know more in the coming days.
Besides, students will develop classroom rules and routines,
identify their learning aims, their needs and the appropriate
learning methods for them.

Vietnamese culture My name is Ms. Lan and I will be teaching your child
Vietnamese Language and Culture this year. Details of the
course have been added to Google Classroom and I will
speak with the students about these in the coming days. Our
first week will focus on settling in, developing classroom
routines, group work norms, assessing students levels and
understanding expectations.
PE My name is Ms. Maeve and I will be teaching physical
education (PE) to all grade 8 students this year. The Google
Classroom will have all the important documents and
information regarding the expectations and syllabus content
which will be covered in PE this year. My email is
