1. Under what condition will the distance and displacement of moving object will have the same magnitude?
2. A bullet fired vertically upwards falls at the same place after sometime. What is the displacement of the bullet?
3. A particle is moving along a circular track of radius r. What is the distance traversed by particle in half
revolution? What is its displacement?

5. A ball hits a wall with a velocity of 30m/s and rebounces with the same velocity. What is the change in its

7. A ball is thrown straight up. What is its velocity and acceleration at the top?
8. Can a body have zero velocity and still be accelerating. If yes then give reason.

11. A car starting from rest, accelerates at the rate ‘f’ through a distance s, then continues at constant speed for
sometime ‘t’ and then decelerated at the rate ‘f/2’ to come to rest. If the total distance is 5s, then prove that: S

12. A ball is released from the top of a tower of height ‘h’ meters. It takes T seconds to reach the ground. What is
the position of the ball in T/3 seconds? Ans. 8h/9, above the ground.
13. Two balls of different masses (one lighter and other heavier) are thrown vertically upward with same initial
speed. Which one will rise to the greater height? Which one will passes through the point of projection in their
downward direction with the greater speed?

15. On a 60km track, a train travels the first 30km with a uniform speed of 30km/h. How fast must the train travel

16. A jet plane starts from rest with one acceleration of 3m/s and makes a run for 35s before taking off. What is
the min. length of the runway and what is the velocity of the jet at takeoff? Ans. 1837.5, 105m/s
17. On a foggy day two drivers spot each other when they are just 80m apart. They are travelling at 72km/h and
60km/h respectively. Both of them applied brakes retarding their cars at the rate of 5m/s. Determines whether
they avert collision or not. Ans. Total distance 67.78m

18. A body covers one third of its journey with speed ‘u’, next third with speed ‘v’ and the last third with speed ‘w’.
Calculate the average speed of the body during the entire journey.

decelerates at 2m/s2. If he reaches the ground with a speed of 2m/s, how long is he in the air? At what height

30. Two balls are thrown simultaneously, a vertically upward with a speed of 20m/s from the ground and B is
vertically downwards from a height of 40m with the same speed and along same line of motion. At what points

31. A stone falls from a cliff and travels 24.5m in the last second before it reaches the ground at the foot of the cliff.
Find the height of the cliff. Ans. 44.1m
