A. ENGAGE Good morning, Class! Good morning, Sir!
How are you today? We’re feeling good Sir.

Are you excited to learn? Yes sir.

Now, I want you to look at this illustration.

What do you observe in the illustration class? Each illustration

described different
energy, Sir.
Can you give me what energy describes in each (Pupils will give their
illustration? answers.)
 Heat energy
 Light energy
 Electrical
energy
 Chemical
energy
 Thermal energy
 Sound energy
 Mechanical
Very good! All your answers are correct. Do you know energy
class that Heat energy, Light energy, Electrical energy,
Chemical energy, Thermal energy, Sound energy and
Mechanical energy is a form of energy.

It is because each energy has a different characteristics

and forms.

Form of energy Characteristics Examples

Mechanical It is the sum of Windmills,
energy energy in falling water,
motion and dancing, moving
stored motion cars, exercising
by an object. All
moving objects
possess
mechanical
energy.
Electrical energy It is the energy Electric circuit,
possessed by lightning,
moving transmission
electrons that lines
lights the bulb,
works all
appliances.
Chemical It is an energy Battery, food,
stored in bonds medicines
of chemical
compounds, like
atoms and
molecules.
Heat energy It is an energy in The spoon

to another
The pork
becomes
cooked after
placing near the
fire.
Thermal energy It is an energy Sun
due to the
movement of
molecules.
Sound energy It is an energy Radio, speakers,
produced by musical
vibrating instruments
objects.
Light energy It is form of Lighted bulb,
electromagnetic candle,
radiation flashlight
produced by hot
objects that can
be seen by the
human eye. It
travels through
medium of
space.

Do you understand class is the different forms of energy

and the characteristics of it?
Yes sir.
Great!

B. EXPLORE
Now, I want you to take a look at this one.

It is a television, Sir.
What do you see in this picture? Yes sir.
Correct. So, do you watch television? Electrical energy, Sir.
What form of energy uses by television? Light and sound
What form of energy produces by the television? energy, Sir.

Did you noticed a transformation happens from electrical Yes, Sir.

energy to light and sound energy?

So, how did you noticed a transformation happens from We noticed that the
electrical energy to light and sound energy? electrical energy uses
by televisions are
converted to light and
sound energy, Sir.
Very good!

Do you know class, that the food we eat provides us the

energy to do work. You can run, walk, swim or do your
homework because of the chemical energy that we get
from food. Even sleeping, breathing and eating require
some energy from our body. It is important to note that
the chemical energy that you get from food is not lost or
used up when you do those activities. It is simply changed
into another form of energy. So, our topic today is all
about energy transformation.

C. EXPLAIN
Energy transformation, also known as energy conversion,
is the process of changing energy from one form to
another. Energy transfer refers to the movement of energy
from one place to another.

For example, battery is an example of chemical energy. If

we put it to the battery-operated flashlight there is an
energy transformation happen. Chemical energy
transformed into light energy.
Another example, by these illustrations it is able to
transform heat energy from the sun being the source of
heat, and then light energy from the sun is being
converted in electrical energy by a solar panel to generate
electricity with solar cells. And then, the generated
electricity from solar panel to electricity at home, such as
television and radio. The electrical energy is being
transformed into sound energy and light energy.

Do you understand now on how energy can be

transformed? Yes sir.

Now, let’s think of the electricity that flow from your wall
socket and then moves through a wire and into a bulb.
The energy is being transfer from the wall socket to the
bulb.

Here are some examples of energy transformation.

Example: electrical to Light energy

The electrical energy transforms into light energy.

Yes sir.

Example: electricity to sound energy

The piano must need electricity to be function.
Example: electricity to sound energy

Example: electrical to Light energy Yes sir.

Do you understand class the transformation of energy?

Great!

Okay class, it seems that you already know our lesson. Let
us summarize what we have learned today
Today we will focus on how electrical energy can be
transformed into light and sound energy.

D. ELABORATE
 Energy has a different forms and characteristics.
 Heat energy, Light energy, Electrical energy,
Chemical energy, Thermal energy, Sound energy
and Mechanical energy is a form of energy.
 Energy can be transferred or transform from one
to other.
 Energy transformation is the change in the forms
of energy.
 Any form of energy can change into different form
of energy.
 Energy can only be useful when it changes into
different forms of energy.

Now it’s your turn to work on you group activity.

Directions: The class will be divided into four (4) groups.
Each group will arrange the picture puzzle and name the
energy transformations for each illustration.
