Torospherical dished ends
28011
Gewolbte Boden; Klopperform Supersedes May 1987 edition.

In keeping with current practice in standards published by the international Organization for Standardization (LSO), a comma
has been used throughout as the decimal marker.

Dimensions in mm

1 Scope and field of application

This starldard specifies dimensions and technical delivery conditions for one-piece torospherical dished ends (‘ends’ for
short). It applies to torospherical dished ends with or without weld that have an outside diameter, d,, of up to 4000 mm and
a wall thickness, s, of up to 50 mm. It covers ends of dimensions satisfying the following conditions:
rl =d, rp=O,i d, h, 2 3,5 s’) h2 = 0,1935 d, - 0,455 s
This standard may apply by analogy to ends in larger sizes. Tolerances, particularly for ends made of segments, are subject
to agreement.
For ellipsoidal dished ends, see DIN 28 013.
The wall thickness may be designed, for example, on the basis of the Technische Regeln DruckbehNter (Codes of pratice for
pressure vessels) or the Technische Regeln Dampfkessel (Codes of practice for steam boilers).

2 Dimensions and designation

2.1 Dimensions

s = wall thickness
(cf. subclause 3.45)

Figure 1: Torospherical end

The volume and surface area of torospherical ends (disregarding hl) shall satisfy the following conditions:
volume of dished part, V= 0,l (d, - 2 s)~;
external surface area of dished part, A, = 0,99 da*;
internal surface area of dished part, Ai = 0,99 (d, - 2 s)*.
The datum line is defined by the flange height, h,, as specified in table 1. When ordering, it may be agreed that this line be
marked on the dished end.

4) The (nominal) values given are average values derived from the mass of finished dished ends, which vary as a result
of the manufacturing process. They correspond to the mass calculated from the theoretical geometrical shape of
the ends, taking the density as 7,85 kg/dm3 multiplied by a factor of 1,l.
