Watch and Buzz:

The video discussed how pictures and visuals could convey a message as much as words. The video went
into different aspects of visual rhetoric, like color, contrast, and typography, and how they affect what we
think and feel when we see a picture. It also brought up how advertisers use visual rhetoric to get us to
buy their stuff, which is shady but pretty interesting. Overall, the video was a neat exploration of how
visuals shape our understanding of the world.
Quick Response: Visual rhetoric is an essential tool for effective communication and engagement with
audiences. By using images, design elements, and other visual aids, individuals can convey ideas in a
more impactful and memorable way. Visual elements can also create a personal connection with the
audience by evoking emotions and making messages more relatable. Additionally, visual aids such as
graphs and diagrams can communicate complex information more effectively. Understanding and using
visual rhetoric is crucial in daily communication habits and practices, especially in today's media-
saturated world.

Show and Tell

1. First look: An older man and woman. Closer look: Two men: one playing a guitar and singing, the other
holding something on his head.
2. First look: A sad older woman. Closer look: A dejected older woman is gazing behind her.
3. First look: Human skull. Closer look: Picture of a dog between two young toddlers.
4. First look: A human face. Closer look: Various animal species have been sculpted into human faces.
Quick Response: At first, I found the activity tricky because I had to pause and give it some serious
thought. Yet as the exercise continued and I continued to write my answers, I gradually began to
understand the purpose and goal of the task. I'm glad I kept going and sought to understand the activity
rather than just saying or responding without being prepared or understanding it. I'm happy I have the
tenacity and boldness to study and understand things, even if they initially appear challenging.

Read and study: Types of Text

Persuasive texts try to convince you to believe or do something, while technical texts teach you about a
particular process or system. Expository texts give you information in a clear and organized way, and
narrative texts tell you a story. Each type has its style:
• Persuasive texts are all about making a solid argument and using confident language.
• Technical texts use fancy terms and have a specific structure.
• Expository texts use bullet points or headings to make things easy to understand.
• Narrative texts are all about feelings and emotions.
What is your Theory?
A window, desk, and cabinet in the room indicate that the supposed suicide was a murder designed to
appear as a suicide. The woman was discovered dead on the floor with a handgun in her right hand and a
cigarette in her left. The desk contained various items such as a pen, cigarettes, silverware, a can,
eyeglasses, a light, and books. The stool had fallen over, and there was blood on the wall. The woman had
not finished smoking her cigarette, which is uncommon in suicide cases. The person held a pen and a light
in their left hand, indicating they were left-handed while keeping the gun in their right hand. The
supposed dying letter was meant to create the impression of suicide, although the light bulb was
disconnected, and it was nighttime. Therefore, it can be concluded that the woman was murdered, and the
perpetrator attempted to make it look like a suicide.

Compare Infographic and Plain Text

1. The decision to use either infographic or plain text as a format for communicating a message should be
based on several factors, including the message being conveyed and the intended audience. Infographics
help engagingly convey complex information and are easily shared on social media. They can also create
a personal connection with the audience. Plain text, on the other hand, allows for detailed explanations
and is accessible to a broader audience. Ultimately, the decision should be based on communication goals
and the target audience to communicate the message effectively.
2. I agree with Griffin and Stevenson's statement that words remain important in communication
regardless of how much we use graphics. Words convey the main message and provide a context that
graphics cannot. Words can clarify and provide details that graphics may miss. Furthermore, words are
necessary for accessibility, as some people may have difficulty interpreting visual information. However,
it is essential to note that graphics can enhance the message and make it more memorable. In conclusion,
while graphics can be helpful in communication, words remain essential for conveying the core message
and providing clarity.
Clinch it well
1. No, nothing because I prefer cheese burger.
2. The audience for the ad for World No Tobacco Day is likely smokers or those who may be considering
smoking. The purpose of the ad is to demonstrate the negative effects of smoking on one's appearance.
3. The action in the ad "Work Ache" for painkillers Aspirina Bayer is the depiction of a headache,
portrayed by a stapler painted with a man face down, holding the sides of his head as if he is hammering
his head on the desk. The ad aims to communicate that a headache can feel like a pounding sensation,
making it difficult to focus on work or daily tasks. This ad effectively conveys its purpose as it uses a
creative and relatable visual to capture the target audience's attention and memorably communicate the
message.
B. It is made to capture a moment of friendship and companionship between two individuals.
C. Amorsolo wants to elicit a sense of tranquillity and harmony in the viewer, evoking nostalgia for a
simpler, more carefree time.
D.
In shades of black and white, a tranquil scene,
A man in suit, his dog a faithful friend,
Their bond unbroken, pure and true, serene,
A peaceful moment, that shall never end.
The man's right hand rests upon his dog's back,
A gesture of affection, love and trust,
Their stillness in the park, a quiet knack,
A moment pure, untainted by the rust.
The park around them, a haven of peace,
A refuge from the world of toil and strain,
Their bond, a sacred love that will not cease,
A steadfast trust, that nothing can detain.
This photo, captured in monochrome,
A testament to love that shall enthrone.
E. This shows how the media can manipulate individuals and how a single picture can drastically alter a
perception. The media may only present one-sided and biased views without considering the opinions and
experiences of local individuals who are directly involved. The media may prioritize stories that have a
significant impact, even if it means withholding the truth from the audience. This portrays the media as
greedy and manipulative.
