Hardware Requirements
This section outlines the hardware configurations certified for use with this software release.

AVEVA Enterprise SCADA HMI Hardware Requirements

 Intel Xeon Processor E5-1630 v3 (Four Core (Hyper-Threaded), 10 MB Cache, 3.7GHz Turbo)
o Selected for single-threaded performance.
 32GB RAM (4x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4 RDIMM ECC
 256GB SATA Solid State Drive (SSD)
 Video Card(s) 2GB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 510
o If more than four monitors are required, an additional identical video card is needed. In this case, the
motherboard must have a second dedicated video card slot.

Hardware Specification Selection Criteria

The required CPU listed in Human-Machine Interface (HMI) Client Hardware Requirements is based on a
performance benchmark that favors single-threaded execution. Comparison values may be seen here:
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html.
Typically, this means a higher clock speed has a much greater benefit than simply more cores.
32GB of RAM is specified because it is the largest amount that can typically be installed in many motherboards,
and the cost of the RAM is not prohibitive. The largest consumer of RAM within ezXOS is the caching of large
displays. Pre-loading displays will increase RAM usage, but this is relatively low in comparison to caching.
Disk size requirements may vary by installation, but the recommendation of 256GB allows for normal use and
growth of the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) needs. Display files and the graphics database typically range
from 5GB to 10GB. A solid-state drive (SSD) will significantly improve display call-up times, as compared to a
standard hard drive.
Finally, the choice of motherboard will be driven in part by the number of required monitors. Each specified
video card will support up to four monitors. If more than four monitors are to be supported, a motherboard with
a second dedicated video card slot will be required.

Reference Hardware
The following Reference Hardware is used to characterize display call-up performance in the AVEVA
Human-Machine Interface (HMI) performance lab:

Machine Performance Tuning

Ensure your environment has the following settings to guarantee maximum display performance:
1. Remove all unnecessary software, including anti-virus software.

Note: Consult a system administrator before disabling or removing anti-virus software.

2. Disable Microsoft Windows Update.
Note: Consult a system administrator before disabling Windows Update.
3. Use Data Access Layer (DAL) Publish/Subscribe (PubSub) Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) Override
rather than User Datagram Protocol (UDP) Multicast.
4. Pre-load displays that are used often.
5. Stop all unnecessary processes and services.
6. Click Start, and type Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows .
7. Press Enter.

AutoCAD Support by easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS)

In this release of AVEVA Enterprise SCADA HMI, drawing interchange format ( dxf) import is supported, but the
Ascend plug-in is no longer supported. Refer to the Best Practices section in the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA HMI
Display Builder documentation.

Notes: AutoCAD is not required in order to run easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS).
AutoCAD 2000 binary format, dxf is supported across all versions of ezXOS.

Language Support
AVEVA Enterprise SCADA HMI 2021 supports many languages of the world. Languages maybe fully or partially
supported by AVEVA Enterprise SCADA HMI 2021. A fully supported language means that the product will
display menus, prompts, dialog boxes, user interface elements, and user-facing error messages in that language
when it is installed on the operating system of that language. A partially supported language means that all
displayed text can be translated into that language and can be added to the product installation. This will cause
all menus, prompts, dialog boxes, user interface elements, and user-facing error messages to be displayed in
that language when it is installed on the operating system of that language. The procedure for adding the
partially supported language translations is described in the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA HMI Developer
documentation.
For both fully supported and partially supported languages, numbers, dates, and time strings displayed in the
Human-Machine Interface (HMI) will be displayed using the formatting that follows the regional conventions (as
set on that workstation).
The following languages are fully supported with the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA HMI 2021 release:
 easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS):
o English-US
o Spanish-Spain
