You are on page 1/ 3

Good morning to the honorable judges and my friends.

Today, we are
going to present our DIY solar oven.

A DIY solar oven uses the power of the sun to cook food without the
need for electricity or gas. Here's a basic description of how to create this
DIY solar oven.

Firstly, we need to prepare the materials which are:

A cardboard box
Aluminum foil
Clear plastic
Black paper
Scissors
Utility knife
Glue and
Tape

Now, let me explain how to make the DIY solar oven.

Instructions:
Choose a cardboard box and cut off the top flaps of the box, leaving it
open. This will serve as the access point for placing and removing food.

Then, line the inside of the box with aluminum foil, shiny side facing
inward. This helps to reflect and trap heat inside the oven.

After that, insulate the bottom, sides, and top of the box with clear
plastic. This helps to retain heat and improve efficiency.

Next, put the black paper inside the box. The black paper absorbs heat
more effectively, increasing the temperature inside the oven.

Place the biscuits, marshmallows, and chocolate inside the box on

aluminum foil. It helps to absorb heat, speeding up the cooking process.
Create a lid for the box using pen or pencils. Make sure it's a snug fit to
prevent heat loss.

Position the solar oven in direct sunlight, preferably on a clear, sunny day.
Adjust the angle of the oven to maximize exposure to the sun's rays.

After a few hours, the chocolate melts and we can enjoy our food!

Now, let me tell you about the usage of DIY solar oven.

We can use this DIY solar oven to cook a variety of foods using the
power of the sun.

We can use DIY solar oven to bake cakes and cookies, to roast or steam
the vegetables.

We can also use it to dehydrate fruits and vegetables. Lastly, for

educational purposes. DIY solar oven is great tool for teaching about
renewable energy and sustainability.

After listening the usage of DIY solar oven, now let us pay our attention
to listen about the strengths and the weaknesses of our DIY solar oven.

The DIY solar oven is environmentally friendly because it uses renewable

energy from the sun. It is also cost-effective because it can be made
using inexpensive materials.

Besides that, solar oven can be used in remote locations. It can also be
the educational tool. Teachers can use it to teach about renewable energy,
sustainability and resourcefulness.

In addition, it is low maintenance. DIY Solar oven requires minimal

maintenance compared to conventional cooking appliances.
However, DIY solar oven also has some weaknessess:

It depends on sunlight, so it may not be effective on cloudy days or in

locations with limited sunlight.

It needs longer cooking times. It cooks food more slowly than

conventional ovens.

Besides that, the size and design of DIY solar oven may limits the
amount and type of food that can be cooked at once.

Remember, a DIY solar oven may not reach the same temperatures as a
traditional oven, so cooking times may be longer.

However, it's an eco-friendly and cost-effective way to harness solar

energy for cooking.

Thank you!
