Quotes: Pick two or three quotes from the book that stand out to you and write
them below with the page number. Explain why you picked each quote.

Theme: What do you think the lesson of the story is? What does the author
want you to learn?
Summer Reading Project

Choose ONE of the projects below to complete.

Book Jacket: Create an original book jacket for your book. Include artwork for
the front and back cover, a summary on the inside front flap, and information
about the author on the inside back flap. Make sure your book jacket is
different from the original and you include your name on the jacket.

Journal: Choose any one of the main characters from the book and write 10
journal entries pretending to be that character. Include events from the story
and write about how you feel about these events. Each journal entry should
be a paragraph.

Board Game: Create a board game based on your book. You must include
information from the story (for example, characters, setting, plot). Make
sure you include the pieces needed to play the game (cards, spinner, etc.)

Alphabet Book: Create an ABC book using at least 20 letters from the alphabet.
Include a cover for the book. The letters must represent an important character,
event, setting, or idea related to the story. Each letter must have a description
and an illustration.

Illustrated Timeline: Create a timeline for the book. Your timeline should include
10 events from the story in order. Each event should have a short description
and a picture related to the event.

Comic Strip: Create an 8-box comic strip version of the story. You should
include the most important events. Each box should have a short caption to
explain the illustration.

Book in a Box: Decorate a box to represent your book and fill it with objects
that represent different parts of your book. If objects are too big to fit in the
box, or you don't have the object, you can draw pictures yourself or use
pictures from magazines or the internet. Please include five objects. In
addition, for each object included, make a notecard that includes the
name of the object at the top and a paragraph about how the object is
important in the book.
