ATTACHMENT
This method statement describes the method to be used for installation of 68 nos of
bored pile along perimeter of the building as per latest construction drawing no.
TSCLK-NEC/SKM/S/F/KP/310 AMDT4. Piles diameter are 800mm and 1050mm.

Upon confirmation from the Consultant, The following sequence of work shall
be carried out:
The Surveyor will set out the exactly pile position as shown in the
approved proposed test piling layout plan at site. The centre line of each
pile shall not deviate in either direction by more than 75mm. All setting out
of piles are with reference to column centre, unless specified.
The area near to the pile point will be leveled by excavator and then
paved with a few pieces of steel plates for the stability of boring rig sitting
on it.
Steel plates
The boring plant intended to be used for this bored piling is hydraulic or
mechanical drilling rig. A suitable auguring tools or buckets will be
mounted on the drilling rig to enable boring in this particular ground
condition and pile dimension to the design requirement.

Auger
Two (2) points will be offset from the exactly boring point for the purpose
of controlling the centre of the bored pile. Then, the drilling rig will be
moved to the pile position intended for boring. The Kelly bar mounted with
the appropriate auger is placed just above the pile point. The vertically of
the Kelly bar will be controlled by plumb string or spirit level.
Offset point 1
Offset point 2
The position of the auger is checked against the pile point. Adjustments
shall be made so that the centre of the auger is nearest to the survey
point to ensure that the tolerances of deviation can be maintained. Then,
the auger is lowered and boring operations is commenced. Reasonable
care should be taken so that the pile position and vertically are
constructed within the specified tolerance.

ii. Extension Of Temporary Casing
In the even that 1st length of temporary casing stop at unstable soil,
the length of casing shall be extended by welding another length of
casing to it. After completed welding, it will be driven further down
using vibro-hammer.

In the event that long casing not good enough to prevent soil from
collapsing, water or bentonite will be used.
The properties test shall be carried out whenever there is new made
bentonite. Test shall also carry out daily for bentonite after desanding.
The head of the drilling fluid will be kept at a level high enough to ensure
sufficient stabilizing capacity in the uncased shaft area.
Bentonite fluid used for drilling purpose must be supplied to the pile from
the fluid plant storage area through a supply line.
For boring through soil layer, boring will carried out by using soil
auger.

soil
Continue boring with soil auger or bucket. In the event that rock or
boulders is encountered, soil boring tool will not be able to excavate
the borehole further. At this stage, rock tool will be used instead of
soil tool for continuing the coring process.

e. Completion Of Boring
Boring will be ceased when the agreed pile toe level has been reached.
During the boring operations, sample will be taken as directed. Minimum
pile length will be referred to construction drawing no. TSCLK-
NEC/SKM/S/F/KP/310 AMDT4. In the case where the bed rock is at a
level higher than the minimum length as mentioned in the drawing, pile
will be terminated after socketing 1.25D into sound bed rock.
Rock core samples are to be taken at the toe level of the pile for
compressive strength test. All rock level/founding level, core sample etc.
are to be inspected and verified by SKME’s site representatives.
The rock socketing length is measured from the lowest surface level of the
sound bedrock. The top surface levels of the sound bedrock are to be
established by using probing method.

Welding of Links
Several links at the top of the steel cage will be welded to provide
rigidity, and hanging supports will be welded to the main steel at
the top of the cage to facilitate lifting.

h. Concreting
ii. Tremie concrete will then be placed via a hopper attached to the top
section of the tremie pipe.
v. As the level of concrete in the borehole rises, the tremie pipe will be
withdrawn accordingly. Care will be taken to ensure that the bottom
of the tremie pipe is at all times embedded at least 3m below the
concrete level in the borehole.
The pile shall be cast until fresh concrete is at least 1.5m or the diameter
of the pile, whichever is more, above the pile cut off level. After extraction
of casing, ensure sound concrete is achieved above the cut-off level.
Nine (9) nos. of 150mm X 150mm X 150mm cubes shall be taken for every
bored pile. Three (3) cubes will be tested at seven (7) days and anther
three (3) cubes will be tested at 28 days after casting. Three (3) cubes
shall be safely kept as spare. Each cube shall be properly marked and
identified with details relating the specimen to the bore hole in which the
concrete used and shall be tested under independent laboratory testing
and witnessed by the Engineer’s representative.
Overcast section of the pile will be removed after the concrete reaches full
strength.

When temporary casing is being extracted out to suitable length, one or two
buckets of concrete hoisted by crane will be discharged into the casing. Then
