The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the official anthem for the Men’s T20 World Cup
2024.
The anthem titled ‘Out Of This World’ features Grammy award winning artist Sean Paul and Soca
superstar Kes.
The anthem, produced by Michael "Tano" Montano, was launched with a music video.
It includes eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt, cricket stars Chris Gayle, Ali Khan,
Shivnarine Chanderpaul and other Caribbean celebrities.

races this season, secured his seventh straight pole position with another dominant drive.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, whose fastest lap was 0.141 seconds behind Verstappen, will start
second with his teammate Carlos Sainz in third place and Verstappen's Red Bull partner Sergio

India to Organize BWF World Junior Badminton Championships 2025 in Guwahati
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced that India will host the 2025 BWF World Junior
Championships at the National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati.
It will be the first time since 2008 that the prestigious Badminton World Federation (BWF) event will
be held in India.
India last hosted the event in Pune.

Top Indian woman paddler Manika Batra claimed the biggest scalp of her career as she accounted
for World No. 2, Wang Manyu of China in four games in a Women's singles Round of 32 clash in
WTT Saudi Smash.
Manika came back after losing the first game to win the next three to stun the top Chinese player
and win the match 6-11, 11-5, 11-7, 12-10 in the 38-minute encounter played at Infinity Arena in

India’s first-ever “hybrid pitch” was unveiled at the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket
Association (HPCA) stadium in Dharamshala, marking a significant milestone for the sport in the
country.
The introduction of the SISGrass hybrid pitch is expected to lift the quality of the sport played on
Indian pitches.
SISGrass designs, constructs and supplies hybrid and synthetic cricket match pitches and practice
net areas for a wide variety of organisations, including international cricket venues, local cricket
clubs, schools, and universities.
Tripura’s First International Cricket Stadium Set To Be Ready By February 2025
Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) is set to inaugurate the state’s first international cricket stadium
in Narsingarh, located in the West Tripura district, with a one-day international match or an IPL
(Indian Premier League) T20 encounter.
Subrata Dey, the secretary of TCA, announced that the stadium is expected to be operational for
hosting major cricket events by February 2025.
It will be the northeastern state’s first stadium.
It is being constructed with a budget of Rs 200 crore.
BCCI and Tripura Cricket Association have joined hands to construct this stadium. Its construction
was started in 2017.

● In a first for Indian sports streaming, the ICC Men’s T20 cricket World Cup will be streamed with
Hindi audio description and Indian Sign Language (ISL) for visually and hearing impaired viewers,
Disney+ Hotstar, the streaming service with the rights to stream the tournament this year announced.
● Reports peg the tournament’s media value between ₹ 1,600–2,000 crore.
● This is the first time that the T20 World Cup will be telecast with sign language and descriptive
commentary making cricket more immersive for its deaf, hard-of-hearing and visually-impaired users.

UN Proclaims 25th May As World Football Day
● The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed 25th May as the World Football Day, by
adopting a resolution during the 80th plenary meeting of the General Assembly in New York.
● The year 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the first international football tournament in history
with the representation of all regions as part of the 1924 Summer Olympic Games, held in Paris.
● The resolution was passed unanimously by the 193-member General Assembly.
● Taher M. El-Sonni, Permanent Representative of the State of Libya to the United Nations, introduced
the draft resolution under Sport for Development and Peace: building a peaceful and better world
through sport and the Olympic ideal during the meeting.

● Iga Swiatek defeated Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka in the final by 6-2, 6-3 to win her third Italian Open
title.
● After Serena Williams, Swiatek became the first woman to win the Madrid and Rome titles back to
back.
● It is the 21st title of Iga Swiatek’s career.
