per degree rise in temperature. If there is an increase in temperature by
10 , estimate the ratio of the displacement of the first order diffraction
spots from the zeroeth order, before and after the rise in temperature.

12 a A thin film is coated on a glass substrate of thickness of 1mm. Both 6 CO4 KL3
thickness and refractive index of the film needs to be estimated through
reflection interferometry. You are given a choice of 2 sources, a diode
operating at 650 nm with a linewidth of 2 nm and a gas laser operating at
650nm with a line width of 0.01 Angstroms. Which of these will you use
for the experiment? Justify your choice and explain how you will estimate
both parameters.
