Information for Admission to PG Degree Programmes


(M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.M.D.)
under
Faculty of Engineering &Technology (FET) and
Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Law and Management (FISLM)
for the Session 2024-2025

1. GENERAL INFORMATION:
The information brochure is for the admission to the Post-Graduate Degree Programmes offered by 15 Departments
under the Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) and 9 Interdisciplinary Schools under the Faculty of
Interdisciplinary Studies, Law and Management (FISLM) and affiliated to the FET, for the session 2024-25. All the
programmes are 4-Semester Day Programmes, except six, which are separately marked as 6-semester evening
programmes.
M.E./M.Tech. programmes are AICTE approved, M.Arch. programme is Council of Architecture (CoA) approved
and the MMD Programme is UGC approved.

1.1. Admission Categories: Admissions to these programmes are open under the following categories:
1.1.1. Category A: GATE – for candidates qualified through GATE and having a valid GATE score in terms of
the validity period, the cut-off marks in the candidate’s respective reservation category, and the disciplines
as stipulated in the eligibility condition, if any.
1.1.2. Category B: Sponsored – for in-service professionals with a minimum experience, as stipulated in the
eligibility condition, after passing the qualifying degree and duly sponsored by his/her employer.
1.1.3. Category C: Self-Sponsored – for candidates satisfying minimum eligibility conditions with or without
valid GATE score for specified programmes only and fulfilling other programme specific criteria, if any.

1.2. Scholarships: Award of scholarships for GATE qualified candidates is not the responsibility of the
University.
1.2.1. The candidates with valid GATE score and admitted to a programme duly approved by the AICTE under
Category A (GATE) are to apply for the scholarship directly to the AICTE, when notified for doing so and
will start to enjoy the scholarship directly from the AICTE if sanctioned by them.
1.2.1.1. There will be NO SCHOLARSHIP for candidates admitted under Category A (GATE) of the
M.Arch. (Urban Design) programme. However, the candidates with valid GATE score and
admitted under Category A (GATE) of this programme may start to enjoy the scholarship if
sanctioned by funding agencies.
1.2.2. There will be NO SCHOLARSHIP for candidates admitted under Category B (Sponsored) and
Category C (Self-Sponsored).
1.2.3. Candidates with valid GATE score will not be considered eligible for corresponding scholarship if they
take admission under Sponsored or Self-Sponsored Category.

2. ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICANTS:


2.1. General Eligibility Criteria for all Three Categories:
2.1.1. Obtained Qualifying Degree (as given in Table: 1 for each of the programmes) with minimum Grade Point
Average (GPA) of 6.75 on a scale of 10 (or 60% marks) for General Candidates including EWS Candidates;
minimum GPA of 6.15 (or 54%) for OBC (both A & B) – Non-Creamy Layer Candidates and minimum
GPA of 5.25 (or 45%) for SC / ST / PwD Candidates.
2.1.1.1. For the Programme in Mechanical Engineering (all specialisations) it is essential to have a
minimum GPA of 7.25 (or 65%) for General Candidates including EWS candidates; a minimum
GPA of 6.6 (or 58.5%) for OBC (both A & B) – Non-Creamy Layer Candidates and a minimum
GPA of 5.625 (or 48.75%) for SC / ST / PwD Candidates.
2.1.1.2. For the Programme in Water Resources & Hydraulic Engineering (6-Semester) it is essential
for the candidates to be in service.
2.1.2. Candidates possessing certificates equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. from the Professional Societies/Institutions,
which conduct examinations in various fields of engineering [viz. The Institution of Engineers (India) (IE),
Indian Institute of Architects, The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), The Institution of Electronics and
Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), The Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI), The Indian Institute of
Chemical Engineers, including Polymer and Environmental Group (IIChemE), The Indian Institute of
Metals (IIM) and The Indian Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIIE)] with aggregate grade point (or marks)
as stipulated under clause 2.1.1
However, the candidates who possess certification from any of these professional societies must
ensure that those examinations conducted by the societies are approved by MoE / AICTE / UGC/
UPSC as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech.

The students, who were enrolled with the professional bodies and institutions as per MHRD OM No. 11-
15/2011- AR (TS.II) with permanent recognition upto 31 stMay 2013, stand recognized.

2.1.3. Appearing / appeared (in the qualifying examination) candidates of the session 2023-2024 may also
apply under Category (A) or (C). The Arithmetic Average of Grade Point (or Marks) of all the results
(semester or annual as the case may be) from 1st year of non-engineering programmes OR 2nd year of
engineering programmes to the pre-final year will be considered as aggregate grade point (or marks) and
must fulfil the criteria as per clause 2.1.1.
If selected, they may be provisionally admitted to the programme and shall have to submit the final mark
sheet of the qualifying examination, fulfilling all the criteria as mentioned, before 25thOctober 2024,
failing this the provisional admission will be cancelled.

2.2. Category wise Additional Eligibility Criteria:


The candidates MUST have to also fulfil the following criteria, as applicable, over and above those
mentioned under clause 2.1
2.2.1. Category A: GATE – Having a valid GATE score in terms of the validity period and the cut-off marks in
the candidate’s respective reservation category, if any.
2.2.2. Category B: Sponsored – Being in service with a minimum of 1 (one) year experience in the relevant field
and duly sponsored by his/her present employer for the entire duration of the programme. The relevant
experience shall be counted from the date of joining the job, but not earlier than the date of
publication of the final result of the qualifying degree, till the last date of online application
submission.
2.2.2.1. For Civil Engineering (all specialisations), Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (all
specialisations), Production Engineering (both specialisations) and Construction Engineering
(6-Semester) programmes a minimum of 2 (two) years of relevant experience is essential
2.2.3. Category C: Self-Sponsored – Candidates are allowed to apply under this category for the programmes
listed below only. Applications under this category for any other programme will summarily be rejected
without any further correspondence. For GATE programmes, eligible self- sponsored candidates may be
considered against vacant seats of both GATE and Sponsored categories and for non-GATE programmes
against vacant regular non-GATE and Sponsored category seats.

2.2.3.1. For Information Technology, a minimum Grade Point Average of 7.00 (or 62.5%) for General
(including EWS) candidates; a minimum GPA of 6.375 (or 56.25%) for OBC (both A & B) – Non-
Creamy Layer Candidates and a minimum GPA of 5.4375 (or 46.875%) for SC / ST / PwD Candidates
in the qualifying Degree Examination is essential for self-sponsored candidates
2.2.3.2. For Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering, a minimum Grade Point Average of 8.25 (or
75%) for General (including EWS) candidates; a minimum GPA of 7.5 (or 67.5%) for OBC (both A
& B) – Non- Creamy Layer Candidates and a minimum GPA of 6.375 (or 56.25%) for SC / ST / PwD
Candidates in the qualifying Degree Examination is essential for self-sponsored candidates

2.3. Qualifying Degrees: The list of qualifying degrees and/or other criteria for each of the programmes
(with specialisations) are provided in the Table: 1.

3. SEAT AVAILABILITY
Detail Seat Matrix for each programme is as given in Table: 3 of this information brochure.
The reservation of seats for admission will follow the relevant guidelines of the Government of West Bengal
and the Government of India, as applicable.
As per circular no. BC-16014/1/82-SC dated 06/08/1984 & BCD-I, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD (R.CELL) dated
08/01/1990 and letter no. 1510-SCW dated 31/05/2007 of the Government of West Bengal, Candidates with
reservation certificates (SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD/EWS) issued by any state other than West Bengal
are not entitled to reservation in such seats in Higher Educational Institutions in West Bengal.

3.1. SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B Reservation: Reservation of Seats for Scheduled Cast (SC), Scheduled Tribe
(ST), Other Backward Class, Category A (OBC-A) and Other Backward Class, Category B (OBC-B) are
as per Government of West Bengal Circular No. 267–Edn (U)/1U-89/13 dated 04.03.2014 read with the
West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act 2013 (West Bengal
Act X of 2013) gazetted on 30thApril 2013 and the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions
(Reservation in Admission) Rules 2013 gazetted on 4 thJanuary 2014.
3.1.1. The concerned candidate shall have to furnish copies of valid SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B certificate in
his/her name issued by the competent authority as per rule.
3.1.2. OBC Certificates must have Category A or B mentioned and should have proper validation of Non
Creamy Layer criteria conforming to Government of West Bengal Memorandum No. 1204-
SBCW/MR-67/10 dated 27-07- 2015. OBC certificates issued before 01.04.2024 MUST be
updated with latest (issued after 31.03.2024) Non Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate (as per
standard government proforma given in Annexure – C) and in that case both original OBC
certificate and updated NCL certificate must be submitted together.
The certificate must be issued by either of the following authorities.
 Sub Divisional Officer of a sub-division in a district area, OR
 District Welfare Officer, Kolkata and Ex-officio Joint Director, BCW for KMC area.
3.1.3. The reservation certificate not fulfilling essential criteria or not issued by the competent
authority will be rejected and the candidate will not be considered under reservation category.

3.2. PwD Reservation: Reservation in PwD seats will be available for the following types of disabilities with
the percentage of disability being not less than 40%.
 Locomotor disability as specified in the Schedule of RPWD Act, 2016.
 Visual impairment as specified in the Schedule of RPWD Act, 2016.
 Hearing impairment as specified in the Schedule of RPWD Act, 2016.
 Speech & language disability as specified in the Schedule of RPWD Act, 2016.
 Intellectual disabilities as specified in the Schedule of RPWD Act, 2016.
 Mental illness.
 Disabilities caused due to chronic neurological conditions and blood disorder.
 Multiple disabilities including deaf blindness.
3.2.1. PwD certificates are to be issued by any of the authorities as given in the Order No. 289-
HF/O/PHP/IR- 05/2017 dated 29.08.2018 of the Government of West Bengal, Health & Family
Welfare Department (PHP Branch)

3.3. EWS Reservation: The EWS reservation can be availed upon production of a gross annual family
income certificate and asset certificate as per the order no. 325-PAR(AR)/3P-1/2019 dated 09/07/2019
of the Government of West Bengal in the prescribed format as given in Annexure – D with issuing date
not earlier than 01/04/2024 and issued by any of the following authorities.
 District Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate
 Sub-Divisional Officer
 DWO, Kolkata For Kolkata Municipal Corporation Area
Note: EWS certificate issued by any other person (including BDO/ Jt. BDO or any other state or
central government official or elected persons like Municipality Chairman, Panchayat Pradhan, MP,
MLA or Minister of State or Central Government) apart from listed above will not be entertained.

4. SELECTION NORMS:

4.1. Preparation of merit list:


4.1.1. Category A (GATE):
 No admission test.
 Single Consolidated List on the basis of GATE score (out of 1000).
4.1.2. Category B (Sponsored) and C (Self-Sponsored):
4.1.2.1. Admission Tests in offline mode will be conducted (except for the programme of Energy Science
& Technology) separately for each programme and for each specialisation of a programme, if any,
with the following general guidelines.
 The test will be in MCQ format.
 There will be 25% negative marking for each question.
 The duration of the test will be 1 hour.
 There will be minimum cut-off marks in the admission test for the programmes of
o Automobile Engineering,
o Biomedical Engineering,
o Bioprocess Engineering,
o Chemical Engineering,
o Civil Engineering,
o Information Technology,
o Material Engineering,
o Mechanical Engineering,
o Metallurgical Engineering,
o Power Engineering,
Candidates scoring less than the cut-off will not be considered eligible for admission,
even if they fulfil all other criteria.
 The detailed schedule and guidelines of the tests will be published in due time.
4.1.2.2. Full Marks Calculation for Category B (Sponsored): Full marks on a scale of 100, calculated by
considering –
 Final Percentage Marks of the Qualifying Degree Examination (as per Clause 4.2) on a scale
of 50.
 Marks obtained in the Admission Test on a scale of 40.
 Marks for Relevant Experience as 1 per year with a Maximum of 10.

than the date of publication of the final result of the qualifying degree, till the last date of
online application submission, calculated up to second place of decimal]
4.1.2.2.1. For Energy Science & Technology
 Final Percentage Marks of the Qualifying Degree Examination (as per Clause 4.2) on a
scale of 90.
 Marks for Relevant Experience as 1 per year with a Maximum of 10
[The relevant experience shall be counted from the date of joining the job, but not earlier than
the date of publication of the final result of the qualifying degree, till the last date of online
application submission, calculated up to second place of decimal]

4.1.2.3. Full Marks Calculation for Category C (Self Sponsored): Full marks on a scale of 100 calculated
by considering –

 Final Percentage Marks of the Qualifying Degree Examination (as per Clause 4.2) on a scale
of 50.
 Marks obtained in the Admission Test on a scale of 50.
4.1.2.3.1. For Energy Science & Technology
 Final Percentage Marks of the Qualifying Degree Examination (as per Clause 4.2) on a
scale of 100.

4.2. Final Percentage Marks of the Qualifying Degree Examination:


For calculation of the Final Percentage Marks of the Qualifying Degree, either of the following guidelines, as
applicable, will be used. In case the,
4.2.1. Final Result is Available: Final Aggregate Marks of the Qualifying Degree Examination.
4.2.2. Final Result of the qualifying degree examination is due: Arithmetic Average of all the results (semester
or annual as the case may be) from 2ndYear (for the qualifying degree in engineering) and 1stYear (for the
non-engineering qualifying degree) to the pre-final year level.
4.2.3. Conversion of Grade Point to Percentage: Calculations on the academic result of the candidate will be
done based on the obtained (or equivalent) percentage of marks only. In case the published result is not in
percentage of marks, following guidelines, as applicable will be used for getting the Marks –
 The conversion formula of the respective board/university, if available, and in such case the formula
should be mentioned in the result sheet(s) OR
 The AICTE advised formula Percentage marks= (𝐺𝑟𝑎𝑑𝑒 𝑃𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑡 − 0.75) × 10 considering the Grade
Point on a scale of 10.
 In case, the Grade Point is not on a scale of 10, the obtained Grade Point Average is to be converted
to a Grade Point Average on a scale of 10 proportionally and then the AICTE formula is to be applied.

4.3. Tie Breaking Rule: In case of any tie in the merit list prepared on the basis of proposed criteria, the following
parameters may be used in the given order to break such tie –
 Percentage Marks of Qualifying Degree
 Percentage aggregate marks of secondary or equivalent examination.
 Date of Birth (a person born earlier will get a higher preference)

4.4. Filling up of Vacant Seats (if any): Seat(s) remaining unfilled in a particular category, if any, will be filled up
by the candidates from the “Waiting List” of the same category. Only if the waiting list is completely
exhausted, candidates from a different category may be selected for unfilled seats of a particular category subject
to the following conditions –
4.4.1. Unfilled seats of the GATE category may be filled by candidates applying under the Self-sponsored
category for the GATE programmes which allow Self-sponsored applications (as listed under 2.2.3A)
4.4.1.1. Unfilled seats in Biomedical Engineering will first be filled by Sponsored candidates and then by
self-sponsored candidates, if vacancy exists.
4.4.2. Unfilled seats of the Sponsored category may be filled by candidates applying under the Self-sponsored
category for the programmes which allow Self-sponsored applications (as listed under 2.2.3A & 2.2.3B)
4.4.3. For all other cases, the unfilled seats will remain vacant.

5. SCHEDULE OF THE PROCESS:


The process involves the following stages, which will be conducted either in ONLINE or OFFLINE mode as
described hereunder strictly adhering to the timeline to be notified in due course.
5.1. Registration to the online application system (the AADHAAR card and a Gmail account are mandatory).
5.2. Filling up the Personal Profile Form through the online application portal.
5.3. Filling up the Admission Application Form through the online application portal including online submission of
legible scanned copies of essential documents.
5.4. Payment of Application Fee through SBI i-collect portal only.
5.5. Online verification of the submitted information by the university including option for resubmission of the
illegible / missing documents by the candidates, if any. Failure to properly comply with the verification
process will automatically cancel the application without any communication.
5.6. Online eligibility checking by the concerned departments/schools of the university on the basis of verified online

applications and scanned copies of documents. Eligibility will be purely provisional and in case any
discrepancy is noted at any stage between the online submitted and original document the application /
selection / admission, as the case may be, will be summarily rejected.
5.7. Appearing in person to offline admission test(s) at Jadavpur University main campus or Salt Lake campus on
scheduled date and time for category B and category C candidates.
5.8. Preparation and publication of provisional merit list on the basis of the online submitted data and/or admission
test marks, as the case may be.
5.9. Submission of printout of online application, Verification of original testimonials and Final Admission of
selected candidates including payment of admission fees in person at the Jadavpur University main campus at
scheduled date and time.
Note: Failing to comply with the published schedule at any stage will summarily cancel the application/
eligibility /selection / admission without any further intimation.

6. GUIDELINES OF APPLICATION:
6.1. The admission process will be carried outonly through the JU-FET admission portal
https://admissionju.jadavpuruniversity.in/fengadmission.
6.2. An individual can submit only ONE application. Submission of multiple application forms by one individual or
attempt to register multiple times with varying personal particulars may lead to cancellation of all such
applications / registrations without any further correspondence.
6.3. An applicant can opt for a maximum of 8 (Eight) options and out of that maximum 1 (One) option may be
under Category B.
 For the programmes without specialisation, the programme will be considered as one option AND
 For programmes with specialisations each specialisation will be considered as a separate option.
6.4. A candidate MUST use his/her valid e-mail address (Gmail domain only), mobile number and AADHAR number
as mandatory personal identifiers for registering and filling out the online application. The registered e-mail
address and phone number will be the official medium of communication for all correspondence from and
to the university and no change of such will be entertained at any stage of admission.
6.5. In-service engineers may apply for 6-semester programmes or under the sponsored category of 4-semester
programmes, subject to fulfilment of essential requirements.
6.6. Applicants will have to pay a NON-REFUNDABLE Application Fee as detailed below based on number of
options he/she opted for –
 Application for 1 (one) option only – Rs. 500.00
 Application for 2 (two) to 4 (four) options – Rs. 1000.00
 Application for more than 04 (four) options – Rs. 1500.00
6.7. An application will be considered as submitted only after filling up all sections of the online admission
application form, uploading of legible scanned copies of mandatory documents, photograph and signature and
successful online payment of the Application Fee. Not completing any of these steps will automatically cancel
the application without any further communication.
6.8. Application, with wrong, misleading and/or incomplete information or suppression of information, will be
rejected summarily without further communication.
6.9. The legible scanned copies of the following documents in pdf format MUST have to be uploaded along with the
application. Multiple pages of document, if any, of a single criterion MUST be scanned as a single pdf file.
In case any document has back-to-back information, both pages MUST be scanned
● Aadhaar Card of the applicant [For foreign citizen, Passport of the applicant]
● Birth certificate issued by the competent government authority OR Admit card / Certificate of Secondary or
equivalent examination OR Passport as proof of Date of Birth. [Aadhaar Card will not be considered as
proof of Date of Birth]
● Valid SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / EWS / PwD Certificate(s) issued by the competent authorities of the
Government of West Bengal (refer clause 3), for candidates applying for reserved seats. Any other document
or document not issued by the competent authority or document not in proper format will not be accepted
and the candidate will not be considered for any reserved seat.
OBC certificates issued before 01.04.2024 MUST be updated with latest (issued after 31.03.2024) Non
Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate (as per standard government proforma given in Annexure – C) and in
that case both original OBC certificate and updated NCL certificate must be submitted together.
The issuing date of certificate for EWS category MUST not be earlier than 01/04/2024

● Valid GATE score card for candidates having qualified GATE score.
● Marks sheets of all semesters / annual examinations of the Qualifying Degree Examination up to the
pre-final year from the first year (except for candidates studying the qualifying degree through lateral
entry admission, for whom from the second year). In case of any backlog at any level of the qualifying
degree examination, the result showing the backlog or a valid official document mentioning the same MUST
have to be submitted.
● In case the Final result (or result of both semesters of the final year) of the Qualifying Degree Examination
is due, a certificate from the Head of the Institution / Controller of Examinations of the University stating
that the candidate has appeared in the final examination in 2024 and his/her result of the final (and pre-final
semester, if applicable) examination is yet to be published (refer clause 4 above).
For the candidates whose final result of the qualifying examination is due, the marks / grade of any semester
/ annual examination having a backlog, if any, will be considered as “zero” for calculation of the average.
● In case of the qualifying degree (or equivalent) obtained from professional bodies (duly recognised by the
competent authority) relevant and valid document in support of proof of the examination conducted by the
societies are approved by MoE / AICTE / UGC / UPSC as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech.
● Marks sheet of the Secondary or equivalent Examination.
● Marks sheet of the Higher Secondary or equivalent Examination, if applicable.
● All marks sheets of the Diploma in Engineering Examination, if applicable.
● All marks sheets of the B.Sc. Examination, if applicable.
● For candidates applying under the Sponsored category –
○ “Employment cum No Objection and Sponsorship Certificate” from the present employer in the
format given in Annexure – A
○ Authenticity proof of the present employer through either of the –
■ Form-16 or any other IT document of the applicant containing the name of the employer
OR
■ Certified copy of the Registration / Trade license / GST certificate / PAN / TAN
document of the employer
○ All previous experience certificate(s) or joining and release letter(s) clearly indicating the
date of joining and leaving to the organisation(s) in chronological order.
● For candidates applying to the 6-semester programme of Water Resource and Hydraulic Engineering
under the Self-Sponsored category
○ “Employment Certificate” from the present employer in the format given in Annexure – B
○ Authenticity proof of the present employer through either of the –
■ Form-16 or any other IT document of the applicant containing the name of the employer
OR

6.10. Candidates MUST follow all the guidelines and the schedules as published in this brochure and/or notified
from time to time on the university admission website. The university will not be responsible for any issues
that arise due to non-compliance with this advice.

7. VERIFICATION & ELIGIBILITY


7.1. Provisional verification of application data will be made by the university on the basis of the submitted scanned
copies of the relevant testimonials only. This process will start after completion of the application process.
7.2. Candidates not submitting legible / proper scanned copies of relevant testimonials will be given one additional
scope of resubmission of required documents through a suitable online system within a stipulated date, to be
notified in due time. The candidates MUST check the admission portal and their own “application
dashboard” regularly for any such information. Individual communication may not be made. Not complying
with the resubmission advice, if any, will automatically cancel the application without further processing.
7.3. Applications successfully verified on the basis of uploaded scanned copies of documents only will be considered
for eligibility checking.
7.4. Provisional eligibility will be checked separately for each programme (or programme with specialisation) applied
to on the basis of the provisionally verified data only. Any mismatch of provisionally verified data and
original testimonial noticed at any stage will automatically cancel the eligibility and the application.

8. ADMISSION TEST & MERIT LIST:
8.1. Admission Test will be conducted for provisionally eligible candidates of non-GATE categories for the
programmes as mentioned earlier.
8.2. Non-Appearing or not scoring more than the cut-off marks, if any, in the admission test will automatically cancel
the candidature of the non-gate category for that particular programme in which a candidate fails to appear or
clear te cut-off in the scheduled admission test.
8.3. Provisional merit List will be prepared and published as per clause 4 of this document from amongst the
provisionally eligible candidates and those who have successfully cleared the admission test, if any.
8.4. Admissions will be conducted as per schedule from the published merit list only.

9. SELECTION, ORIGINAL DOCUMENT VERIFICATION AND ADMISSION


9.1. The selection, allotment, and admission process of candidates will be conducted from the published merit list of
the corresponding category only.
9.2. The original documents will be verified for provisionally selected candidates only during the offline allotment
and admission process.
9.3. A candidate will be considered for admission only after successful verification of their original testimonials. Any
missing documents or mismatch of information will automatically cancel the provisional selection, if any,
and he/she will be not considered for admission.
9.4. The candidates are to bring the following documents at the time of selection and admission.
● A signed printout of the submitted and verified online application form. Printout of the online application
form before online verification will not be accepted.
● Online submission acknowledgment.
● SBI i-collect Payment acknowledgement of Application Fee.
● Originals and one set of self-attested copies of all the documents submitted online as mentioned in clause
6.9 above.
Note: Screenshot printout(s) of computer / mobile will not be accepted under any circumstances.
9.5. The originals of the following documents, as the case may be, MUST have to be submitted during the admission
process.
● NCL certificate for OBC reservation, if applicable
● EWS certificate, if applicable
● “Employment cum No Objection and Sponsorship Certificate” from the present employer in the format
given in Annexure – A, if applicable.
● “Employment Certificate” from the present employer in the format given in Annexure – B, if applicable

The offline admission process will be conducted as per the following procedure:

9.6. Category A (GATE): There will be only ONE round of Selection and Final Admission.
9.6.1. A consolidated provisional merit list based on GATE score will be published for all provisionally eligible
candidates under GATE category.
9.6.2. Admission will be according to the merit at the scheduled date, time, and venue (details to be notified in
due course). Failure to report at the scheduled date and time will automatically cancel one’s chance of
admission, if any.
9.6.3. The original documents of the reported candidates will be verified on the spot and non-completion of
original document verification will automatically remove one’s name from the list. Only the candidates
completing the original document verification successfully will be considered for admission against vacant
seats, if any.
9.6.4. The candidate will have the choice to opt for any one of his/her applied eligible options under this category,
in which vacancy exists at the time he/she is called.
9.6.5. Once the candidate selects his/her preferred choice of programme, if any, he/she has to opt for the same in
writing through a specified form to be provided at the admission venue. Once exercised, no change of
option or request of withdrawal will be entertained at the admission.
9.6.6. Once the preferred option of the candidate is accepted for admission, he/she must complete the admission

process on the spot by paying the full fee (as mentioned in Table 2). No partial payment or payment in
instalments is acceptable.
9.6.7. Admission fee payment can be made by cash or credit / debit card only. No other mode of payment is
acceptable.
9.6.8. Failing to complete the payment on the spot at that instant will automatically remove his/her
candidature and he/she will no longer be considered for admission under this category.
9.6.9. On completion of the payment the candidate will be considered as “Admitted to the particular PG degree
programme (with or without specialisation)”.
9.6.10. Unfilled seats, if any after this round, will be filled up as mentioned in clause 4.4.
9.7. Category B (Sponsored) and Category C (Self-Sponsored): There will be Two rounds of Selection and Final
Admission followed by a consolidated Wrap-Up round to fill unfilled seats, if any, as per the following
guidelines.
9.7.1. Programme wise provisional merit lists will be prepared following clause 4 for all provisionally eligible
applications and who have successfully completed the written test, if any.
9.7.2. Programme wise provisional selection and waiting lists for each category, as applicable, will be prepared
based on the corresponding merit list and seat matrix.
9.7.3. Selected candidates have to physically report to the university as per schedule (to be notified in due course)
and at the specified venue to complete the original document verification. Only the candidates completing
the original document verification successfully will be considered for admission.
9.7.4. Provisionally selected candidates after successful completion of the original document verification must
complete the admission process on the spot by paying the full amount of the requisite admission fee (as
mentioned in Table 2). No partial payment or payment in instalments is acceptable.
9.7.5. Admission fee payment can be made by cash or credit / debit card only. No other mode of payment is
acceptable.
9.7.6. Taking admission to one particular programme from amongst the selected options will automatically
cancel other selection offers, if any.
9.7.7. Failing to complete the final admission as per schedule will automatically remove one’s selection(s)
without further correspondence.
9.7.8. However, for both cases as mentioned under 9.7.6 and 9.7.7 the waiting list position(s), if any, of the
candidate will remain valid.
9.7.9. On completion of the payment the candidate will be considered as “Admitted to the particular PG degree
programme (with or without specialisation)”.
9.8. WRAP-UP Round for Sponsored AND Self-Sponsored category
9.8.1. Wrap-up round for Categories B and C will be conducted after completion of the regular two rounds of
admission, if any, and the corresponding vacancy matrix to be published thereafter
9.8.2. The candidates, having a valid provisional waiting list position in one or more programmes, will be eligible
to appear in the wrap-up round admission. No fresh applications will be entertained for the wrap-up round.
9.8.3. Wait-listed candidates, eligible to participate in the wrap-up round, must have to exercise an expression of
consent to participate in the wrap-up round in person through a specific form on a scheduled date and time
(to be notified in due course). Failure to submit the expression on schedule will automatically remove
his/her candidature and waiting list position.
9.8.4. The interested candidates will have to report for admission through the wrap-up round at the scheduled date
and time (to be notified in due course). Failure to report at the scheduled date and time will
automatically remove his/her candidature and he/she will no longer be considered for admission.
9.8.5. The participating candidates will have to complete the original document verification, if not done already
and only after successful completion of the original document verification he/she will be considered for
admission, if any.
9.8.6. The candidates will then be called for admission, if a corresponding vacancy exists, one by one according
to merit and they will have the choice to opt for any one of his/her valid wait-listed options, against vacancy
at that point of time, if any.
9.8.7. Once the candidate selects his/her preferred choice of programme, if any, he/she has to opt for the same in
writing through a specified form to be provided at the admission venue. Once exercised, no change of
option or request of withdrawal will be entertained.
9.8.8. Once the preferred option of the candidate is accepted for admission, he/she must complete the admission

degree programme (with or without specialisation)”.

10. IMPORTANT INFORMATION:


10.1. The JU-FET admission portal is https://admissionju.jadavpuruniversity.in/fengadmission
10.2. The process of application will be carried out through online mode. However, applicants need to visit the
university physically during the subsequent stages as per the schedule.
10.3. The fees structure for the programmes (along with categories) are as given in Table: 2.
10.4. The seat matrix (with specialisation and reservation wise break up, if any) is as given in Table: 3.
10.5. All admission related communication / notification from the university including publication of the detailed
schedule of every stage of the admission process like, admission tests, original document verification,and
admission, etc. will be notified in due time on the university admission portal only and no individual
communication will be made.
10.6. Being updated on the admission related notification and /or instruction is the responsibility of the applicant. No
individual communication will be made. Jadavpur University will not be responsible for any consequences
arising out of not adhering to this guideline OR the candidate not following the instructions or failing to
act as per schedule and leading to automatic cancellation of application / candidature / selection, if any,
without further communication.
10.7. Any complaint of not being aware of a published notification / schedule will not be entertained.
10.8. Registration of application or fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria or successful verification of
online documents, or online provisional eligibility or position in provisional merit / selection list position
does not confer any right of the applicant to be considered for admission.
10.9. The Admission Committee reserves the right of not selecting any candidate who is considered physically unfit
or otherwise unsuitable.
10.10. All J.U. courses are non-residential. Hostel seats are not guaranteed.
10.11. Any wrong or misleading information furnished or suppression of information, if detected at any point of time,
may lead to cancellation of the application or admission at any point of time without any correspondence.
10.12. For any admission related query e-mails may be sent to pgenquiry@jadavpuruniversity.in, which will be
entertained in 2 to 3 working days’ time. No other mode of communication or communication to any other
email address will be entertained by the admission helpdesk.
10.13. After final admission, no query will be entertained by the admission help desk. Admitted students may contact
their respective department/school and/or the office of the FET for further issues, if any.
10.14. If any student, after taking admission, desires to withdraw from the programme of study he/she must contact
the Muster Roll (MR) section of the university in person and complete the process as advised. Refund of course
fees, if any, will be considered as per UGC and university guidelines.

11. Anti-Ragging:
It is being brought to the notice of all concerned that Ragging is not only a social evil but also a penal offence. Any
student/s indulging in ragging of any student/s including freshers during admission / interview and / or subsequently
at the hostel or in the class or in the corridors or anywhere inside and outside of the campus, shall be severely dealt
with on pain of punishment ranging from loss of academic year / loss of hostel boardership to expulsion from the
university itself. Reporting to the Police Station may also be made in addition to the above punishment. The University
is to follow all the directives of the “UGC REGULATION ON CURBING THE MENACE OF RAGGING IN
HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, 2009 under the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. The

12. APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIP


Candidates, after taking admission and if eligible for a scholarship, may act as per guidelines published by the
scholarship providing authority. Award of scholarships is not the responsibility of the University
