GOLDBERG GENERAL HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE -GHQ28-

Target population : General population. Suggested for the assessment of mental


health. Also suggested for caregivers. Your answer should cover the last few weeks. It
is a self-administered questionnaire of 28 items divided into 4 subscales: A (somatic
symptoms), B (anxiety and insomnia), C (social dysfunction) and D (severe
depression).

As a suggested instrument to detect newly emerging problems. Scoring (GHQ) is


performed by assigning the values 0, 0, 1, 1 to the item responses. The cut-off point
for GHQ is 5/6 (non-case/case).

As a suggested instrument to identify chronic problems. Scoring (CGHQ) is performed


by assigning the values 0, 1, 1, 1 to the item responses. The cut-off point for CGHQ is
12/13 (non-case/case).
