You manage your time efficiently! However, check the following sections to see something
43-56
that can always be improved.
You are good at several things, but you can still save more time. Focus on the following
29-42
points and you will pleasantly find that your job can be much less stressful.
The good news is that you have a great opportunity to improve your work effectiveness and
14-28 your long-term success! To do this, you need to significantly improve your time
management. Start now!
As you have answered the questions, you now have an idea of the areas where your time
management is most deficient. In the following points you have a summary of the main actors in Time
Management. It will serve as a guide for you.
To start managing your time effectively, you need to know your goals. It is an essential condition. Not
knowing them will make you fulfill them, but you need to know them. It's like opening the car door to
drive. Opening it won't get you to your destination, but if you don't you won't get into the car.
If you know where you want to go, you'll figure out what exactly you need to do and in what order.
But without goals, you will waste time on unimportant things and not prioritize key points.
Most neglect goal setting as it requires time and effort. What they don't know is that investing a little
time and effort now will save an enormous amount of time, effort and frustration in the future.
Giving priorities is vitally important. Otherwise, you will work very hard without achieving results. You
will waste time on matters of no strategic importance.
Most people have some kind of “to do” list. The problem is that these lists are just that: a scattered
collection of things that need to be done, nothing more. The list itself makes no sense and the work
involved in simply following it will be equally unstructured. The key is how to work that list - from top
to bottom, from bottom to top, or from hardest to easiest (the latter is correct).
To work efficiently, the first thing is to order tasks from highest to lowest value. This way you will
focus first on achieving the projects set on their date. May you look back and say: “What I got rid of!”
Having a plan and knowing how to prioritize is one thing. The next thing is to know what to do to
eliminate interruptions during the day. It is a widely discussed fact how many interruptions any
employee endures, whether in a managerial position or any other. Phone calls, inquiries, questions
from employees, and a whole series of events that arise unexpectedly. Some can be treated
immediately, but others need to be managed.
Exception: Some jobs require you to be available when they need your help – so interruption is a
natural and necessary part. Here, do what you reasonably can to keep interruptions to a minimum,
without scaring off the people who really need to interrupt you.
The "I'll leave it for later" has been the downfall of the most promising careers. After many "for
laters", the work becomes so gigantic that any task seems insurmountable. Postponing is so tempting,
it can be deadly.
The best way to get out of the hole is to recognize that it is you who has reached that point. Find out
why you procrastinate. Fear to fail? (Although many do it out of fear of success!)
Only when you know why you procrastinate so much can you create a plan to change your habits.
Reward yourself for getting tasks completed, and periodically remind yourself of the horrible
consequences of not doing these boring tasks!
Planning (Questions 1, 2, 7, 12)
A lot of time management comes down to scheduling your time. When you know what your goals and
priorities are, you just need to create a program that gets you going, and protects you from stress.
It will mean that you understand the factors that decide the time available for each task. Not only do
you have to schedule priorities, but you have to leave room for inevitable interruptions. Add grace
time for unexpected events to shape your schedule. A solid program with your priorities as the
backbone and a correct distribution of time will allow you to control your time and keep your life in
balance.
Key points:
Managing time is a fundamental skill that helps you not only keep your work under control, but also
keep stress to a minimum.
We would all love to have a few extra hours a day. It is possible if we work intelligently on the highest
priority things, with a goal program in hand.
With this, we can work effectively, and achieve those goals, dreams and ambitions that matter so
much to us.
