I. History of the Company

Barangay Vasra was originally a neighborhood association, namely the Visayas Avenue
Subdivision Residents Association. The charter president of the neighborhood association
was Mr. Rafael Hernandez and the members were residents of Visayas Avenue (a dead-
end street at that time reaching only up to Culiat Creek) and the following streets,
Forestry, Fisheries, DANR, Plant Industry, Soils, Mines and Lands Streets. Many of the
original residents were high-ranking officials of government departments and bureaus
aside from prominent media practitioners.

Barangay Vasra was officially created as a barrio (barangay) thru Quezon City Ordinance
No. 60-432 introduced by City Councilor Victoriano Diamonon. As stated in the
Ordinance, the area comprising Project X-6 (extension of Project 6) of the People's

3
Homesite Corporation (PHC) including the lots of Government Departments such as the
Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources at elliptical road know as DANR
Compound were constituted as a barrio known as BARRIO VASRA.

The ordinance creating Barangay Vasra was approved on January 22, 1960 and was
signed into a law by Honorable Vincent Novales, Quezon City Vice Mayor and presiding
officer of the Quezon City Council during the term of Honorable Mayor Norberto S.
Amoranto.

To date, Barangay Vasra has several additional satellite informal settlers area comprising
of two large sitios namely Sito Palanas at North Avenue and Sitio BAI Compound, which
is adjacent to the compound of the Bureau of Animal Industry at Visayas Avenue.
Additional smaller informal settlers satellite areas are DENR-NCR Nursery Compound at
North Avenue and BPI Compound at Visayas Avenue.

VISION
The Barangay Council of Vasra envisions itself to be an effective Barangay Council
using effective governance, working hand in hand with the local community associations,
partner NGOs and the Local and National Government to pursue the development of
Barangay Vasra.

MISSION
To spearhead the development of Barangay Vasra into an ideal community for residents
to live in, for business in the barangay to prosper and for government and private offices
located at the barangay to progress.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

lined avenue, an area for business to prosper in tandem with the development of the
nearby North Triangle Park the future Central Business District of Quezon City.

To develop the inner areas of Vasra as an ideal residential enclave in support for housing
requirements of the future central business district at Triangle Park at North Avenue,
Agham area.

To upgrade/uplift the living standards of the residents of Barangay Vasra.

II. Summary of the OJT Experience

In February 2024, I started to inquire about which company I would work for my OJT,
and then when we had an activity in community engagement, they said that we needed to
interview a brigade to ask if we were allowed to implement an activity for their
community, and then we also inquired if we could also work for our OJT. The next day
we get an endorsement letter from our school and then pass the requirements for us to do
an OJT in brigade, and they said we can start tomorrow.

4
On the first day of our work, they explore us in their brigade and introduce themselves,
and they say that we should feel at home and are free to ask them some questions if we
don't understand something. The first task that they gave us was youth profiling, in which
we should put together the ones who live in the same location and put them in
alphabetical order, and then they give us the list of respondents to the survey and check if
their name is there.

On the second day of our work, they invite us to their program, which is teaching kids in
their community about science. They collaborate with some of the students, and I think it
is their project to complement that program at the basketball court in Palanas. They give
us a task to record them, and they let us teach some kids about science, like planets and
parts of the body. I enjoy it a lot because I love kids because they are so cute and
innocent.

On the third day of our work, they invite us to a seminar, which is ''Wais si Nene''. In the
seminar, they teach us how to be practical in buying things, like what you need and what
you want. We should be practical in order to save money and not spend it on something
that is not important. they also asking us some questions about being practical and they
are giving play money based on our answer, if our answer is good they will give us
higher value of play money. They put some prizes that have value; we need to earn in
order to buy the prize they give, and we won 200 pesos. Being practical, that cash prize is
used for buying canvas for our peta in CPAR. Also, they have a tumbler as a as a
souvenir.

On the fourth day of our work, they assigned us to make people answer our survey by
profiling and listing the names of those who answered and putting them in an Excel file
alphabetically. It was exhausting, and I had back pain, but it made me type on the
keyboard faster.

We spent the rest of our workdays encoding, which was enjoyable and difficult. My
hours went by more quickly since I was busy. Work immersion was difficult, particularly
since we were not paid, but I am thankful that they looked after us, fed us, and taught me
a lot of skills that I could and would use in my daily life and academic studies. I
completed the required 80 hours, conquered my shortcomings and fears, and gained new
friends.

I. Assessment of OJT/Practicum Program

A. New Knowledge, attitudes and skills acquired

While working inside the office of SK, I discovered that their job is to implement
community activities to help their citizens. I also discovered that they survey their
community members for youth to see how many percent of the youth are studying or
5
quitting school and encoding it. Information must contain confidentiality for the privacy
of the person who answers the survey.

I also learned how to be attentive and the importance of being respectful. You should
never forget to greet people ''Good morning/afternoon/evening" before asking them or
talking to them as a sign of respect, and never forget to say ''Thank you'' when they give
you something, after they do something for you, or after they answer your questions.
These things are the bare minimum or considered as basic human manners, but I realized
the importance of these subtle signs of respect while I was working with the sk kagawad.
I learned how to encode the survey they gather, and we were the only interns in the SK
department, so I had to figure out how to do it, even though at first, I didn't know how to
do it. but they guide us on how to do it properly.

Throughout my work immersion at the Barangay Vasra Sangguniang Kabataan (SK)

office, I learned important abilities and learned insightful things. I became aware of the
basic responsibilities of the SK, which included gathering data while maintaining privacy
and secrecy and conducting surveys to evaluate the educational standing of young people.
I learned the value of good manners by practicing awareness and respect in my
relationships with coworkers and community members. I also became expert in data
encoding, which is a necessary skill for organizing and interpreting survey data. I
overcame the initial difficulties and learned the value of creativity and patience in the
process. I gained technical competencies, social skills, and useful knowledge from this
experience that I will use in my future academic and professional goals.

B. Theories actually seen practice

6
I was working at the Sk office when I noticed how nice the personnel were. It's great that
they can put it into practice, particularly because they work for the government; as such,

7
they should to be approachable and friendly so that people feel free to ask for assistance
from them. Because they have set daily goals that they are capable of meeting, it is
inspiring to see how hardworking and goal-oriented they are. Again, given that they are
government employees and the society depend on their productivity, it is wonderful to
see that they are committed to achieving their daily objectives rather than just stacking
the goals that have been set. I also saw how they collaborate, exchanging ideas and
opinions before deciding what action to take for the good of the community. The
Barangay Captains and Kagawads discuss any activities or programs that need to be
carried out, bearing in mind that everyone has certain tasks that they can finish at the end
of the day and that everyone should be able to express ideas and thoughts.

C. Feedback that can be given to the company or institution

I'm amazed that their workplace is clean, like they clean it every day, because many
people come in for something. Also, I am grateful to them for giving us food. Also, their
employees are kind and accommodating to everyone who visits the office, and SK
Kagawads are very thoughtful, asking us if we need help. I hope they will continue to do
a good job and be clean in their office.

D. Benefits gained

I gained a great deal of knowledge that I will apply to both my academic career and daily
life. I completed the 80 hours required for my work immersion and gained new skills in
social interaction, getting up early and going to work despite being tired, making friends,
and overcoming weaknesses.

E. Problems encountered

The problems that I encountered, and I've found throughout my work immersion has been
waking up early, something I'm not used to doing. Also, when we were encoding there
was a limited computer for us to use so we had to divide our tasks, one should do the
papers, and some will encode in the computer. I find it difficult with the schedule since I
assumed I could complete 80 hours in 8 days by working 8 hours every shift, but I
underestimated it because I had other subjects to deal with like sometimes while we were
on our shift for OJT we had online classes and doing quiz while on the office of sk brgy,
and those activities interfered with my shifts because I had to prioritize them because our
teacher said that i should prioritize our subject than our OJT, when schedule is
complicated you have to pick first your subject than OJT.
