SUBJECT : ACCIDENT AT THE GREEN LIVING RESIDENCES CONSTRUCTION SITE

Problem Description

On February 16, 2024, two probationary engineers were assigned to conduct an inspection to the
construction site in San Fernando. The two already had their junior and senior internship at two well-known
construction firms. The same engineers failed to follow standard operating procedures, which led to a minor
accident in the construction site.
In investigating the incident, we discovered that during their inspection, they entered a restricted
area without proper authorization or safety equipment. While within the restricted zone, one of the
probationary engineers inadvertently triggered a minor accident by dislodging a small object, leading to a
minor injury to one of the workers nearby.

Action Taken

Based on the company policy, probationary engineers on the performance of their duty must act
accordingly to the rules and regulations of the company. With the offense made by the two probationary
engineers, they were suspended for two weeks and asked to pay Php15, 000 for the medical assistance of
the injured worker.

Recommendations

In order to avoid any untoward incident from happening again in the construction site, I recommend
the following:
1. Assign a senior engineer to accompany the probationary ones.
2. Require all probationary engineers to read the company manual, and the standard operation
procedures
3. Implement stricter access controls to restricted areas, including the requirement for proper
authorization and supervision.
