ELGA LabWater products have been designed to be safe, however it is important that personnel
working on these units are aware of any potential dangers.
Electricity
Most ELGA products are powered from a mains electrical supply; this could be up to 265Vac. During instillation try to
position the power supply above any water outlets. Please ensure that when performing maintenance on these units
that the power supply is isolated whenever possible before any work is carried out.
! Please take caution when working on systems connected to a main power supply. If
in doubt do not atempt any work on a product unless the power supply is isolated.
Water Pressure
When possible the main water supply to a product should be isolated and residual pressure released prior any work
being carried out on the unit to prevent injury to yourself and others.
Sanitization Chemicals
During the sanitization of our products you may be required to handle chemicals such as Chlorine or Hydrogen
Peroxide. Care should be taken to ensure the safety of yourself and others around you while using these chemicals. A
material safety data sheet conforming to COSHH regulations is provided with the chemical, please read this carefully
before carrying out the sanitization.
Ultra-violet Light
Many of our products are fitted with a Ultra-violet lamp. This lamp is enclosed in a stainless steel housing to ensure
that personnel are not exposed to UV light.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD A LAMP BE CONNECTED AND ACTIVATED
! OUTSIDE THE HOUSING. EXPOSURE COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO EYES
AND SKIN.
Display Handset
CAUTION! The display handset is not designed to be submersed in water.
All ELGA LabWater (ELGA) products/systems are supplied with a warranty of 12 months from the date of delivery to
the Customer (End User) or 18 months from date of shipment from ELGA whichever is the sooner. For full details
of our warranty policy you can download the full document from our Partner Net site
partnernet.elgalabwater.com.

1. When powered on, the Chorus 3 (RO) will initially check for a connection to a reservoir and look at the level of
water that is contained within that reservoir.
If the level in the reservoir is below the refill set point then the Chorus 3 will begin the process below.
If the level is above the refill set point then the Chorus 3 will remain in standby until the level has
dropped.
2. The inlet solenoid valve V1 opens allowing water to pass through the inlet strainer S1 and into the pre-
treatment cartridge PT1.
3. The water will then enter the sanitization port before reaching the optional boost pump P1, if installed this
pump will provide 4.7 bar (68 psi) pressure to the RO membranes.
4. Depending on the type of system it will contain either 1, 2 or 3 RO membranes. Where multiple membranes
are installed the second and third membranes will be fed by the concentrate flow from the previous
membrane.
5. The concentrate flow from the last membrane will pass through flow restrictor FR1 before exiting to drain.
6. The permeate flow will pass through the quality and temperature sensors QS1 and TS1 before entering the
reservoir. During the first 4 minutes of process the drain valve V2 will open to flush the membranes before any
water is passed to the reservoir.
Degassing Option
CO2 removal from the pre purified water (post RO) increases the life of downstream consumables fitted to
PURELAB Chorus 1 or 2. Fitting a Degasser is recommended when the CO2 present in the feed water is greater
than the conductivity of the pre purified water (post RO).
7. The concentrate flow will pass through the ejector EJ1 before exiting to drain creating a vacuum that will draw
air through the degassing membrane.
8. The permeate flow will pass through the degassing membrane DG1 before entering the reservoir.

The alarm codes are displayed on the diagnostic screens, these can be viewed using
the LA772 service module. Please see the diagnostics section for details on how to
connect the module and access the screens.
If more than 1 alarm is active the code on the screen will not match any of the codes
given above. Please follow the below steps to identify the active codes:
1. Find the alarm ID with the largest number that is equal to or less than the alarm code being shown on the
diagnostic screen. This is the first alarm status that needs to be addressed. If the code is equal to one of the Alarm
ID’s you do not need to proceed to step 2.
2. Subtract the alarm ID identified in step 1 from the alarm code being shown on the diagnostic box.
3. Repeat step 1 to identify the next code. This will identify the second alarm status then needs to be addressed.
4. Repeat the above procedure until you reach 0.
Example:
The diagnostic box is showing alarm code 12. There is not an alarm ID that matches 12 so the largest number that is
less than 12 is 8. So 8 is the first alarm which is identified as a temperature alarm.
Subtract 8 from 12 = 4
Number 4 is equal to an alarm ID, so the second alarm has been identified as a purity alarm
Critical Alarms
During a critical alarm the system will stop production, once the issue has been rectified the system will need to be
powered down and up again to clear the alarm.
The water purity is below the alarm set point for >30 seconds.
Purity Alarm
The purity alarm is suppressed for 5 minutes once the 4
(QS1)
system is powered on to prevent false alarms.
The temperature is above the alarm set point for >30
seconds.
Temperature Alarm (TS1) 8
The temperature alarm is suppressed for 5 minutes once the
system is powered on to prevent false alarms.

COMMS
The key to ESD prevention is to keep all electronic components and yourself at
the same electrical potential. This usually means ground potential or zero volts.
The best method to adopt when handling PCBs is to wear a ground strap. This
is not always possible but following the guidelines below will help in preventing
ESD damage:
• Use good grounding practices.
• Be especially careful when wearing synthetic clothing while working with circuit
boards.
• Store parts in anti-static bags.
• Never place unprotected boards in plastic containers.
• Always touch the metal chassis before handling parts.
• Handle boards by the edges.
10. Replace the front cover ensuring that the tabs on the
side of the cover are located in the slots on the
chassis.

Wall Mounting
Wall Mounting Kits – Chorus 3 (RO) & PURELAB Chorus 2 (RO/DI)
The Chorus 3 (RO) and PURELAB Chorus 2 (RO/DI) Mk2 and 3 versions require the LA795 wall mounting kit to
enable it to be attached to the wall using the keyhole slots in the back of the system.
The 15 & 30 Liter reservoirs require the LA770 wall mounting kit. The only exception to this is when they are
connected to the top of a Chorus module; the module will be wall mounted using the keyhole slots in the back of the
system and the reservoir will be securely attached to the top of the module using the internal securing bolts, The top of
the reservoir is connected to the wall using the securing clip. The 60 Liter reservoirs require wall mounting kit LA771 at
all times. For more information on wall mounting please refer to the reservoir installation instructions.
The 100L Reservoir cannot be wall mounted due to its weight when full.

It is possible to purchase a validation manual for a product after it has shipped. However, we will only certify the product (provide quality and test
certificates) if the Serial Number of the product is dated within one year of manufacture.
All products, regardless of if they are required to be validated, are tested after manufacture and the test results are stored on file. Post Sale Validation test
results are obtained from the QC test files which are held within the QC Department. Any Post Sale Validation certificates which relate directly to the
product will be dated to expire one year after the date of manufacture. We will not certify any products with a date of manufacture which is older than one
year.
If a system requires validation and is older than one year from the date of manufacture we can still provide a validation manual without the associated
certificates. However any deviation which may arise during the validation process will be owned by the customer. This means that if a deviation occurs, the
customer is responsible for resolving it at their expense.
We will only supply a validation manual for a product which is older than one year if it is still a model within our current product range. We will not supply a
validation manual for an obsolete/superseded product.
Furthermore, we will only supply the current revision of validation manual. If the current revision of the manual does not accurately reflect the performance
of the older product, due to product improvements for example, the product should be upgraded before performing validation. If the product is not
upgraded before commencement of validation, any test which does not meet the expected acceptance result should be captured within the deviation
section of the validation manual.
When ordering a validation manual it is important that the correct information is provided so it can be quickly and easily produced by the ELGA QC
department. The details required are:
The following page contains a form that can be completed with all the information required. This form can also be used if the type of validation manual

1. Introduction
This document is an aid to ensuring successful installation of the LA811 – Reservoir Adaptor. The reservoir
adaptor enables selected non Chorus reservoirs to be connected to a Chorus System. The LA811 is
illustrated below.
Before continuing, please confirm the following criteria have been met:
● The correct dip switch setting is selected for the required sensor type. (Refer to instruction sheet
INST41137).
● Sensors are correctly connected to the appropriate LA811 input. (Refer to instruction sheet
INST41137).
● The correct software version is loaded on the LA811 (minimum v4.0.0). This can be verified using
the LA772 – Service Module.
With a service module connected and viewing the diagnostics, the LA811 displays as a reservoir. The
software version should be the same as the rest of the connected modules.
Example 1 – For ELGA’s LA611, LA612 and LA613 Reservoirs With Single
Float Switch.
1 2 3 4 5 6
A 3.5mm to 3.5mm Mono Jack Plug may be required for connection between the LA611, LA612 or LA613
and the LA811. A 3.5mm Mono Jack Plug (Part No. PLUG36860) is supplied with the reservoir installation
kits, however, if this was not used in the original installation it will be difficult to locate.
1 2 3 4 5 6
Example 3 – ELGA old style LA586, LA587 and LA590 Reservoirs With
Independent Float Switches
Reservoir Adaptor Connections = 1, 2, 3 and 4
1 2 3 4 5 6
1 2 3 4 5 6
You must calibrate the reservoir ‘LOW’ and ‘HIGH’ positions using the LA772 – Service Module.
(Refer to instruction sheet INST41137).
Step 2 – Select QC Test Procedure (For QC Test Procedure to be visible a jumper need to be connected to LK1
on the PCB. Contact ELGA Technical Support for more details)
Step 3 – Select Reservoir (Would like Reservoir to be changed to LA811 – Reservoir Adaptor)
Step 5 – Ensure the Pressure Sensor is connected to the reservoir and the reservoir is empty. Press the accept button
on the LA772 – Service Module to continue.
Step 6 - Press the accept button on the LA772 – Service Module to store this value and continue. Note: The ‘155’
Value on the display represents the analogue to digital conversion (ADC) value and should be around 4mA (as the
sensor is 4-20mA output) and consistent for any 4-20mA output sensor. This value is the pressure reading when the
reservoir is EMPTY (0%).
Step 7 – The reservoir now has to be manually filled to its full level. Once complete press the accept button on the
LA772 – Service Module.
Step 8 - Press the accept button on the LA772 – Service Module to store this value and continue. Note: The ‘525’
Value on the display represents ADC value when the tank is full and depends on the sensor type and size of the
reservoir. This value is the pressure reading when the reservoir is FULL (100%).
Step 9 – Reservoir / Pressure Transducer Calibration is complete.
Step 10 – Select Diagnostics on the LA772 – Service Module and press accept.
Step 11 – Scroll through the diagnostics screen on the LA772, checking the reservoir is displaying 100% and there are
no Alarms present.
Step 12 – Slowly drain water from the reservoir until empty and check the reservoir is displaying 0% on the on the
LA772, checking there are no Alarms present.
Step 13 – Fill the reservoir using the Chorus system until 100%. System is now ready.
4. Troubleshooting
This troubleshooting section enables you to identify the root cause of why the LA811 may not be functioning as
expected.
Once connected to your Chorus system, if there are no illuminated LEDs or the LA811 is not functioning,
check the fuse.

Service Bulletin
SBN0127 - Issue 01
1. Introduction
This Service Bulletin is to confirm the release of software update v3.0.1 for the complete PURELAB Chorus Range,
Halo Dispensers and Storage Reservoirs. Previous software release v2.0.3 (August 2017). Please see Service
Bulletin SBN0118 – Issue 1.
Please note the following software was released under concession after v2.0.3.
Version 2.0.31 was released under concession due to an unplanned change of the internal microprocessor MZ(PIC).
Version 2.0.32 was released under concession and specifically related to the calibration offset issue ELGA
experienced with the PURELAB Chorus 1 Complete and Chorus 2+ systems.
Version 3.0.0 was released in order to release to market the Chorus 2 (RO/DI) and Chorus 3 (RO) Mk 3 systems with
display.
1. Support the release of the Chorus 2 (RO/DI) and Chorus 3 (RO) Mk 3 range of products with display.
3. Improve AutoVolume Dispense accuracy by following a 2 stage volume calibration process. Dispense accuracy of
+/- 10ml or +/- 3% of dispense volume, whichever is the greater.
4. Improvements to the Data Capture feature. µS/cm now captured instead of MΩ-cm when µS/cm selected as the
display unit.
5. > symbol now displayed on Chorus 1 Complete & Chorus 2+ systems in all languages.
6. Footswitch compatibility with the Advanced and flexible halo which was not available with software version 2.0.3.
(Note: It was possible to use the foot switch with software versions 2.0.2 and below)
7. Eliminate a software bug where Chorus 2+ / Complete systems would automatically go into process mode at
00:00.
10. PURELAB Chorus 1 / Halo - Feed water Selection in the user menu. Feed water selection is related to the way
the dispense valve and pump operate. It controls the feed pressure into the flex system and stops it being
exposed to high pressures that affects the performance of the dispense valve.
If the Chorus / Halo is “RO, DI or SDI Feed”, then for drip and low flows the pump switches off until the button
gets to about half way.
If the Chorus / Halo system is “Reservoir Feed” (flooded suction) then the unit will operate the pump all the
time, even at low flows.
Please ensure the feed water is selected after the new software has been updated to ensure AutoVolume
accuracy.
12. Ability to change Alarm Settings using the LA772 Service Module for Chorus 2 (RO/DI) and Chorus 3 (RO) Mk 3
without the need for website download.
The new V 3.0.1 software which supersedes V 3.0.0 is being released to;
1. Eliminate the AutoVolume Dispense feature not entering intermittent recirculation after 10 minutes on Chorus 1,
Chorus Complete and Chorus 2+ systems.
Feedback from the field requested renaming the software so that it’s easier to know which version of software has
been downloaded.
From version 3.0.0 onwards software will be renamed by it’s version. For example “CHORUS_3_0_1.ENC” will mean
that the version of software is 3.0.1.
In order for the system to understand this version 3.0.0 or later has to be downloaded onto the system.
For systems before v3.0.0, the Service Technician can simply rename the software “UPDATE.ENC” and the software
will be recognized and updated.
Software can be downloaded from the PartnerNet. If you experience difficulty downloading the software onto your
USB Mass Storage Device, please contact the ELGA Technical Support Team.
Important Note: - Please do not download PURELAB Chorus software onto the same USB as
PURELAB flex software as the systems cannot differentiate between the two UPDATE.ENC files.
The USB flash Drive will be supplied at the back of the Operators Manual NO longer contains the latest
software. This was removed because of issues with old Chorus systems being installed with new systems
and the software being uploaded out of date.
Download the new software from www.elgalabwater.com/customize. Select PURELAB Chorus and then click on the
link “Customize Your Settings”. Once selected please follow the screen prompts.
If you experience difficulty downloading the software onto your USB Mass Storage Device, please contact the ELGA
Technical Support Team.
Important Note: - Please do not download Chorus software onto the same USB as PURELAB flex software, as
the systems cannot differentiate between the two UPDATE.ENC files.
ELGA recommend downloading the latest version of software (V 3.0.1) on your customers system during routine
service visits, after commissioning or system upgrades.
We recommend that you update the software to improve the AutoVolume accuracy. It’s also a great opportunity for the
sales person to visit customers who had previously commented on the AutoVolume Accuracy.
It’s likely at some point there will be a mismatch in software. This is likely to occur when installing a new system with
an older Halo Dispenser or Reservoir with older software uploaded. If this happens the following screen will appear
and you will not be able to complete commissioning.
In the event of a software mismatch please update the software to V 3.0.1. Once complete it will be possible to
commission the system successfully.
Updating software can take up to 25 minutes to complete and the status of the update will be displayed on the display.
Please note that if the incorrect version of software is used the system will report that the software is not recognized.

Service Bulletin
SBN0131 - Issue 01
1. Introduction
This Service Bulletin is to confirm the release of software update v4.0.0 for the complete PURELAB Chorus
Range, Halo Dispensers and Storage Reservoirs. Previous software release v3.0.1 (July 2019). Please see
Service Bulletin SBN0127 – Issue 1.
All Systems leaving ELGA UK from 7th February 2020 will be installed with software version v4.0.0.
1. A 10 second delay has been added to the reservoir “Overfill Alarm” to stop false alarms being
triggered.
3. Ability to enable/disable temperature compensation using the LA772 – Service Module for Chorus 2
(RO/DI) and Chorus 3 (RO) MK3 systems. MK3 systems have the display on the front.
4. Ability to set MΩ or µS using the LA772 – Service Module for Chorus 2 (RO/DI) and Chorus 3 (RO)
MK3 systems. MK3 systems have the display on the front.
6. TOC alarm setting removed from the LA772 – Service Module Menu for Chorus 2 (RO/DI) and
Chorus 3 (RO) systems.
7. Removal of “Reservoir Calibration from the LA772 – Service Module Menu.
8. An additional safety feature has been included in the event of a reservoir overflow. A power reset is
now required to reset the alarm once 10% of the water has been drained from the reservoir.
9. Updates to various language files to eliminate a blank screen if an “Overfill Alarm!” is triggered.
Feedback from the field requested renaming the software so that it’s easier to know which version of software
has been downloaded.
From version 3.0.0 onwards software will be renamed by it’s version. For example “CHORUS_3_0_1.ENC”
will mean that the version of software is v3.0.1.
In order for the system to understand this version v3.0.0 or later has to be downloaded onto the system.
For systems before v3.0.0, the Service Technician can simply rename the software “UPDATE.ENC” and the
software will be recognized and updated.
When performing a software update on a PURELAB Chorus system you must wait for at least 30 seconds
after the display goes blank (display off). This happens immediately after the system reaches 100%.
The first part of the software (displaying the % reading) is copying the new software to an external memory.
When the display goes blank, the Chorus system loads the software into the main PCB Microprocessor Board
Controller.
If the system is powered off during this time it may cause an incomplete software update meaning the system
will roll back to its backup software.
Step 1. Upload new software files onto a USB Flash drive with a capacity <16 GB
Step 2. Ensure you have both software files CHORUS_4_0_0.ENC and UPDATE.ENC
NOTE:- If you do not have an LA772 - Service Module insert the USB flash drive into the PURELAB
Chorus system.
Step 5. Wait for 30 seconds once the software upload is complete and the screen goes blank.
Step 5a. If the system automatically starts (Auto Restart enabled) only then remove the USB flash drive.
OR|
Step 5a. If the system does not automatically restart (Auto Restart disabled) then press the button to start the
system. Once the system is in process mode, remove the USB flash drive.
Important Note:- Updating software can take up to 20 minutes to complete and the status of the update will
be displayed on the handset display. There may be a delay of up to 10 minutes before the software will begin
to upload and the status changes from 0% to 1% onwards.
ELGA also recommends updating software if the customer has been experiencing issues with their
installation. Symptoms include: freezing / unresponsive display, configuration errors and reservoir overfill
alarms.
Software can be downloaded from the PartnerNet. If you experience difficulty downloading the software onto
your USB Mass Storage Device, please contact the ELGA Technical Support Team.
Important Note: - Please do not download PURELAB Chorus software onto the same USB as
PURELAB flex software as the systems cannot differentiate between the two UPDATE.ENC files.
The USB flash Drive at the back of the Operator's Manual NO longer contains the latest software. This
was removed because of issues with old Chorus systems being installed with new systems and the
software being uploaded out of date.
It’s likely at some point there will be a mismatch in software. This is likely to occur when installing a new
system with an older Halo Dispenser or Reservoir with older software uploaded. If this happens the following
screen will appear and you will not be able to complete commissioning.
In the event of a software mismatch please update the software to V 4.0.0. Once complete it will be possible
to commission the system successfully.
Updating software can take up to 25 minutes to complete and the status of the update will be displayed on the
display.
Please note that if the incorrect version of software is used the system will report that the software is not
recognized.

Service Bulletin
SBN0138 - Issue 01
1. Introduction
This Service Bulletin is to confirm the release of software update v5.0.0 for the complete PURELAB Chorus Range,
Halo Dispensers and Storage Reservoirs. Previous software release was v4.0.0 (January 2020). Please see Service
Bulletin SBN0131 – Issue 1 for further details.
st
All PURELAB Chorus systems All system manufactured after 1 February 2021
1. Eliminate the freezing of a Chorus 1 Complete / Chorus 2+ Systems when installed with a Halo Dispenser.
The Halo Dispenser will appear to freeze and become unresponsive if left in "AutoVolume
Dispense Mode" when the external reservoir is refilling "Refill Mode". This happens after 10
minutes.
If “AutoVolume Dispense Mode” is not selected and the reservoir is filling the freezing does
not occur.
2. Eliminate “Configuration Errors” / “Configuration Not Valid” from occurring with Chorus 1 Complete or Chorus
2+ Systems. The underlying cause was the main PCB occasionally sending an end of message transmission
as the display PCB started sending its message (or vice versa). This would cause the bus to crash and an
alarm, to be triggered.
Feedback from the field requested renaming the software so that it’s easier to know which version of software has
been downloaded.
From version 3.0.0 onwards software will be renamed by its version. For example “CHORUS_3_0_1.ENC” will mean

For systems before v3.0.0, the Service Technician can simply rename the software “UPDATE.ENC” and the software
will be recognized and updated.
If you are unsure which version of software on your system please ensure both CHORUS_5_0_0.ENC and
UPDATE.ENC are loaded onto your USB flash drive.
Please ensure you safely eject your USB flash drive to avoid creating a corrupted file.
Software can be downloaded from the PartnerNet. If you experience difficulty downloading the software onto your
USB Mass Storage Device, please contact the ELGA Technical Support Team.

Technical Support Team.
Important Note: - Please do not download Chorus software onto the same USB as PURELAB flex software, as
the systems cannot differentiate between the two UPDATE.ENC files.
ELGA recommend downloading the latest version of software (V 5.0.0) on your customers system during routine
service visits, after commissioning or system upgrades.
Updating software can take up to 20 minutes to complete and the status of the update will be displayed on the
handset display.
There may be delay of up to 10 minutes before the software will begin to upload and the status changes from 0% to
