Dear Distributor

It is a necessity to update your Octopus 900 to the latest FLASH V 2.12 together with FPGA V2.10 when running the OCTOPUS
900 with EyeSuite Perimetry V2.04.

FLASH V2.12 ensures a smooth operation when using Kinetic and Static Perimetry. Occasionally it occurred that the vectors were not
displayed in the Kinetic Perimetry. Another issue was the high sensitivity when using EyeTracking. This now works efficiently with
FLASH V2.12.
False ‘defects’ shown in the Macula area of the Visual Field and other smaller bugs have been fixed with this FLASH Version.

For correct operation of the OCTOPUS 900 it is an absolute necessity to make sure that the
FLASH and the FPGA versions are up to date. Before running any examinations, please ensure

that the versions are correct. If necessary carry out the update according to the instructions
below.

Flash and FPGA Update

1. Open up EyeSuite on your desktop and make sure that you are using the current EyeSuite Version 2.04. If you are using a lower
version, upgrade it to Version 2.04. This version has numerous additional advantages and features described in a separate
“Distributor News” issue.

2. Go to "Perimetry", "Service / Diagnostic", "Version information"

3. Compare the Flash version and FPGA version with the ones under "c:\program files\EyeSuite\dataocto\download". Updates are
available on http://www.haag-streit.com under ‘Products’ – ‘Perimetry’ – ‘OCTOPUS 900’

4. If the installed FLASH version is older than 2.12 and the


FPGA is older than 2.10 then click on the "…" button to select
a new programming file.

5. For the Flash update select the "*.bin" file and for the FPGA
update select the "*.pom" file and click "Open"

6. Click on "Save to OCTOPUS". The following message


confirms the start of the process.

7. When the software is transmitted to the Octopus the following


message appears. Keep waiting.

8. Wait until the instrument stopped making beeping sounds for


about 30 seconds, then confirm with "OK".

9. If you started with the Flash software update, continue with the FPGA if there is a new version and vice versa.

10. Click "Print" to receive a documentation of the Octopus 900 settings and versions. This is also helpful when talking to the Octopus
tech support.
