FS 2 LEARNING
Learning Episode ENVIRONMENT:
AN OVERVIEW
To have a meaningful and successful accomplishment in this FS episode, be
sure to read through the whole episode before participating and assisting in your FS
2 Resource Teacher’s class. Note all the information you will need and tasks you will
need to do before working on this episode.

Target Your Intended Learning Outcomes

At the end of this Learning Episode, I must be able to revisit the concept of learning environment in the context of
the current teaching and learning situation.

Clarify Your Task

Overview of the Learning Environment
A learning environment, traditionally called the classroom, is a space in a school that
supports student learning. It is a self-contained area where teacher teaches and children learn. In
the classroom are chairs or tables for students and a front table for the teacher. This is a
traditional face-to-face classroom. Most often the students should face the teacher as the chairs
are arrange that way. But as teaching deliveries changed to enhance learning, modification in the
seating arrangement evolved and more opportunity for the learners to move about for
cooperative learning was addressed.
A conducive learning environment should have the following characteristics:
 Flexibility- There is opportunity to have small groups, movable walls.
 Openness- Learning corners/areas which could be shared.
 Access to resources- Audio-visual materials are ready and open for use.
 Physical classroom- Space is clean and safe.
 Psychological atmosphere- It is friendly and accommodating.

The classroom climate nurtures the intellectual, physical, social and emotional
development of the students.
Here are some specific strategies for developing the optimal classroom climate. You may
consider these.
1. Learning environment addresses both physical and psychological needs of the students
for security and order, love and belonging, personal power and competence,
freedom and fun.
2. Create a sense of order. For example, teacher should teach students how to
 enter the classroom and immediately engaged in the activity;
 distribute and collect materials;
 find out about missed assignments due to absence and how to make up for them;
 get the teacher’s attention without disrupting the class and
 arranged desks, tables quickly and quietly for various purposes.
3. Greet learners as they enter your face-to-face or on-line classroom.
4. In a healthy and conducive learning environment, everybody belongs and knows each
other.
5. Encourage class building activities like games and team activities.
6. In a conducive learning environment, success whether small or big is recognized and
celebrated.
Both approaches, either the traditional face-to-face or online, lead to positive results but
I different ways, so usually in practice both approaches combined.

Participate and Assist

What will you do to assist your mentor in setting up a conducive learning environment in
the following conditions:
1. Bulletin Board Display
To assist my mentor in setting up a conducive learning environment, I will assist her by offering
crucial advices, relevant concepts on numerous topics, and expanding her innovations that are
appropriate for the 21st century generation. In order to establish a supportive learning
environment, I will also assist my mentor by doing my own research and making my own lesson
plan. I am aware that a bulletin board can serve as another instructor and guide who reflects new
teachings, aids students in understanding new subjects and challenges they are facing right now.
I want them to actively participate in all ways they can do.
2. Small Group Discussion
To assist my mentor in a small group discussion, I’ll ask my mentor for permission tomlead and
start this activity so that I may support my mentor in this type of learning. I will prepare the
needed materials and topic. I will give them enough time and space so they can brainstorm and
participates in debates. It will help students spend their time more effectively and be more
productive with the help of each other.
3. Checking class attendance in a virtual classroom = ( i.e. google meet or zoom)
Before the class begins, I will ask my mentor that I will conduct the attendance before starting
the class to monitor who are around and that my mentor may start preparing and doing her work.
Learning Environment 1:
 What have you notice in the classroom bulletin board? What message or theme does it
convey?
 I've noticed that the bulletin board exhibits a sufficient level of simplicity in terms of style
and structure. It was certainly not mediocre, despite the fact that it was easy. The message
was clearly communicated on the bulletin board, fulfilling its intended purpose without
the need to disturb the kids.
 What makes it attractive to the learners?
The designs were in their proper context and related to the theme. Its size made it visible
even from a great distance away. It used beautiful, vibrant hues that captivated the
students.
 Does it help in the learning process? YES! How? There are various uses for bulletin
boards in the classroom. It can be used as an addition to your lecture. It aids the teacher in
introducing a fresh idea. Additionally, it might be a huge help for visual learners to
comprehend the new material.

Learning Environment 2:
 If the teacher is using distance delivery of learning through the modules, where is most
likely the learning space of the students?
In their respective homes doing virtual classes. The finest and safest environment for
students to learn is at home during this pandemic. Parents are in chare of their children’s
education.
 Can you describe?
Learning at homr is interesting, fun, and purposeful. You can still help your family in
doing household chores. Parents can help their children develop new abilities and
knowledge as they advance in their careers. The environment must be supportive
especially at home. It must be quite in order to prevent distractions for the students.
 How can you as a teacher help to make such environment conducive for learning? ______
As a teacher, I will make an environment where everyone must be positive and I will be
enthusiastic when teaching them. I will get to know my students slowly. I will provide
positive comments when appropriate. I will build an environment where everyone feels
safe inside.

Analyze
The examples above, describe two contrasting situations. The first shows that the learners
are in the same room or space while in the second, the learners maybe in different spaces like
homes, study hubs or in extreme cases parks or under the trees.
As a teacher, in which of the two situations would you prefer to manage for learning?
Choose between learning environment 1 or Learning Environment 2.
Explain your choice: Why? I'll go with learning environment 1, which shows students in
a space or classroom, because it's possible for students to ask questions at any time in the
classroom. It enables students to take part in numerous school activities, small group discussions,
and social interactions with their peers. I find it hard to believe that this pandemic has rendered
the entire face-to-face schooling system useless. I long for such times to pass quickly because I
miss them so much. Children can study in an engaging and relevant environment while also
grasping the fundamental nature of the teaching-learning process. They can feel different
emotions toward one another through social engagement in the classroom.

Reflect
Based on my noticing and analysis, I realized that
a. Face to face is the best teaching method in all ways. It is superior to all types of
learning environment.
b. As a teacher, I have to do my very best to do my job as a teacher at this trying times.
c. If pandemic will still be here, I would volunteer to help my mentor delivering modules
to students.

OBSERVE

What probable problem may result from the two situations of the learning environment?
When it comes to online learning learning, the following are the problem that may result:

 Power Interruption
 Slow Internet Connectivity
 Lack of Technology
 Sudden Internet Interruption
 Management of Time

When it comes to face to face learning, the following are the problem that may result:

 Allowances for boarding houses, fare, and foods and drinks

 Traveling schedule from house to school
 Cant manage own time preparing for school
 Peer destruction
REFLECT

What solutions can I think of to solve the problem?

PLAN

In order to interact with the pupils, I must first ask them how they are doing and how I can help
them emotionally and personally. Second, in order to accommodate all of the kids' learning
requirements and interests, I as a teacher must have a plan A and a plan B in place so that I can
have a backup plan. Third, I need to talk to the parents to find out what their circumstances are
right now and where they stand. Fourth, I must exercise creativity and develop a thoughtful
outlook. Fifth, I need to put in more effort to completely understand my current line of work. The
future of the pupils is in my hands, so I must be flexible in all I do.

How should I do it?

As a teacher I should be flexible and always be ready to take my actions in helping my learners
to grow and learn more. I will modify every aspect of my teaching methods to suit each
student's demands and situation. These solutions are designed to be applied in a two-
learning setting.

Environment

“My Conducive Learning Environment”

By: _Camela Rose E. Cabahug

My conducive learning environment should be a setting where it is

possible to attain the intended educational goals by taking into account
the physical, psychological, social, and cultural needs of all students in
a setting that permits a free interchange of ideas, thoughts, and skills
between teachers and students. My ideal learning environment would
be in a classroom where I model and organize my lessons in an
interactive way, allowing students to discuss, compare notes, respond
to questions, and present their ideas to the class as a whole. I believe
the relationship students have with the subject of study, with the
teacher, and with other students in class are the three objectives that
motivate a student's involvement towards the subject, so I will
incorporate my teachings with activities to create an enjoyable
learning atmosphere. As a conscientious teacher, I need to be aware of
my own judgments to my learners and guard myself against being
bias. I should be fair to all my learners because I know they are all
doing their very best to ace all the activities and exams. I want to be a
teacher who can be of a great help to my students and colleagues. I
will not be a burden to them. I would teach with a great heart and
perseverance. I will be more active and understand my student’s
diversity. I believe being a teacher is a good will god has bestowed
me. I want them to learn while enjoying personal lives. Provide them
all their needs in terms of educational resources. Being a teacher is a
noble profession. This is my own way of making a conducive learning
environment.
