Note 2: The SSAS system should be tested in conjunction with the Company Security Officer
(CSO) on completion of this configuration.
Note 3: The SSAS alert button must be latched for at least 30 seconds before an alert message is
generated and transmitted.
Note 4: The only way to reset security alert reporting from this system is by unlatching the alert
button. The unit cannot be reset over the air.
Note 5: One routing option is available: Vizada/France Telecom (Aussaguel) Your company may
have a preferred LES route based on commercial agreements, please confirm with your CSO if you
are unsure.
Note 6: For instructions on how to remove these configuration settings, please refer to Section 4 of
this document.
N.B: The factory default password is ‘0000’. However, the password may have been changed at the time of the
installation, in which case please request this information from a member of the crew or from the CSO. Should this
information be unavailable, please contact the hardware supplier.
6. Five SSAS transmission routes are available (Security Alert transmission #1 to #5). If any of
these have been used, select the next available one. Otherwise, select ‘Security Alert
transmission #1’ by pressing <Enter>.
NB: The unit transmits SSAS messages in order “SSAS Schedule #1” to “SSAS Schedule #5” at intervals of 12 minutes,
so the transmission routes should be set in order of priority. If any of the “SSAS Schedule #” has been used, select the
next available one. We recommend using SSAS Schedule #1 to ensure the alert is routed to us first. Once a SSAS
Schedule # has been chosen from the drop-down list, please continue to the below instructions.
9. ‘lEs’ is then highlighted; press <Enter>. To route alert messages via Vizada (Aussaguel), the ‘lEs’
should be set to ‘021-121-221-321’.
10. ‘Network type’ is then highlighted; press <Enter>. A dialogue box will appear; select ‘psDn’ from
the list and press <Enter>.
13. ‘SSAS Message’ is then highlighted (‘Character code’ is ignored); press <Enter>.
14. Enter a message similar to the one below, using your own vessel details
15. To store the message, select ‘Save & Quit’ by pressing <F9>. If the ‘Input Search String’
dialogue box appears press <F10> twice and then press <F9>.
16. Press the [↓ ] key to highlight ‘security Alert’; press <Enter>. Set this to ‘oN’ and press <Enter>.
Note: If ‘oFf’ is selected, the SSAS message will not be sent when the security button is
pressed.
18. Press <Esc> to close the menu and go back to the main screen.
7. The unit starts transmission using Security Alert transmission #1 immediately after pressing
<F1>. Security Alert transmission #2 to Security Alert transmission #5 will be sent at 12 minutes
intervals if they have been configured. The test mode lasts for one hour.
