Location:
This institution is located at Aurangzeb Road, Mohammadpur,Dhaka-1207
It is a five stored building.

Background:
It was established as a outdoor clinic in 1974 with funding assistant from the Pathfinding Fund
purpose of delivering integrated family planning service under one roof .This was the first centre
of Bangladesh of this nature .On 1st July 1999,as per decision of the government ,
Mohammadpur Fertility service and training centre was transferred to the revenue budget as
government organisation .Then 2010,10th October, the 100 bedded hospital including surgery
and fertility starts for the public.

Mission:
To respond with a view to fulfilling the health, Nutrition and family planning service-related
need of client/patient.

Goal:
The ultimate goal of this institute is to bring about an improvement in the health and
nutritional status of a children and mothers and to conduct a research on the achievement of
family planning targets in Bangladesh.

Aims of institution :

*To provide training to the health and family planning staffs

Objects of the instruction:

To reduce the population growth, increase contraceptive prevalence create by providing and
promoting family planning services.
To form and planned families by health and nutrition research in various family planning
methods.
To develop human resource through training in family planning, mother and child health.
To reduce maternal mortality rate through motivational , counselling , assistant and follow up
of patient .
To, improve quality of services undertaking research on different aspects of MCRAH, nutrition
and contraceptive use.

Ongoing activities :
This centre being service and training center, provides basic and in services training to health
and family planning medical staffs who work at different levels .

This service are as follows:

C. Birth control injection
D. Implant insertion/removal (Norplant)
E. Intra uterine device insertion /removal
F. Male and female sterilization
G. Emergency contraceptive pill service
H. Post parfum family planning
I. USG guided removal of missing implant
J. Hysteroscopy guided removal of missing IUCD

Maternal and child health services (MCH):
A. Ante natal case (ANC)
B. Delivery system including caesarean section .
C. Post natal care (PNC)
D. Sick children (under 5 years)
E. Paediatric care (indoor service )
F. Vitamin A capsule distribution
G. Immunization including hepatitis B vaccine
H. Adolescent reproductive health care.
I. Nutrition advice /service for pregnant mother and malnourished children
J. Menstrual regulation and post abortion care (PAC)
K. RTI and STI service
L. VIA (Visual inspection of cervix with acetic acid )
M. Breast cancer screening
N. Management and treatment of referral cases.

Reproductive Health Care Service :
A. Reduction of unsafe abortion through safe MR service and post abortion care
B. Syndrome management of RTI/STDs through diagnosis and treatment .
C. Counselling on RTI/STD, HIV/AIDS & condom promotion .
D. Prevention of unwanted pregnancies through Emergency contraceptive Pill.

New born and child health care service:


Promoting integrates approach to address sick children through integrated management of
childhood illness(IMCI) including acute respiratory track infection (ARI),diarrhoea, malnutrition
& fever. Growth monitoring .
Routine immunization in coordination with Expanded programme on immunization (EPI) and
vitamin A supplementation. Limited curative care for eye ,ear, skin infection & worm
infestation.

MCH Nutrition Service:
Exclusive Breast feeding.
Complementary feeding.
Growth monitoring
Vit-A supplementation
Iron supplementation
Zinc supplementation

Iron & Folic acid supplementation for pregnancy & lactating women.
Early initiation of breast feeding.
Postpartum vitamin A supplementation .
Adolescent health for female.
Nutrition services for pregnant mother & malnourished children
Menstrual regulation & post abortion care (PAC)

Infertility Service:
A. To give assurance to the long term contraceptive uses .
B. To identity the common cause of infertility in both male & female and provide basic
management and treatment
C. To perform recanalization procedure in both tubectomized and vasectomized cases in case of
loss of children or otherwise.
D. Couples are counselled about infertility.
E. To provide moral support through counselling and motivation .
F. To provide ultrasonography of infertile clients including TVS
G. Investigations of couples are done by low costs .
H. Ovulation induction by hormone .
I. IUI(Intra Uterine Insemination)

Maternal health service:


1. Registration of all pregnant mother
2. Providing birth planning & antenatal care .
3. Safe delivery by trained birth attendants or home with active management of 3rd stage of
labourer.

5. Diagnostic & service facility for clients .
6. Community mobilization activity.
7. Weight monitoring of pregnant activities.

Training:
●Training of doctors and paramedics on clinical contraception ,RTI/STI & HIV/AIDS Case
Management and reproductive health, MCH Health and nutrition etc.
●Training on MR,PAC, IUD, NSV ,Tubectomy ,implant , counselling & Infection , Prevention
●Six (06) months CSBA
●Six (06) months Midwifery
●Six (06) months EOC
●Training on hysteroscopy Operation
●Training on Counselling of field worker of health and EP
●Field training of student from welfare Department under Dhaka and National University and
different medical college hospital.

Research:
●Operation Research and surveys
●Clinical trial on different contraceptive before being introduce in family planning programme.

Contraceptive use.

Training unit:
●Six(08) training rooms with modern facilities (Multimedia ,AC ,Laptop, sound system
etc)●Modern conference room with highest facilities (75 seats)
●One cafeteria (Accommodation 60)
Trainee's Hostel & Meeting Facilities:
●Fully furnished 37 Rooms are available including &VIP cabins with all modern facilities,
including arrangement of food.
●Hostel for 6 months trainees (CSBA, Midwifery and EOC)
●A well decorated conference room with a seating arrangement of 65 persons.

Comments:
MFSTC & 100 bedded MCH hospital is a unique institution to guide & lead the country towards
family planning, maternal & child health care service & perfect role model of combined
community & hospital based services for curative, preventive ,promotive patient care.

Conclusion:
MFSTC plays an important role to achieve the target of health and family planning activities in
Bangladesh .It has achieved a high level of success in family planning services which has made
the centre a popular & reliable institute in middle of clients .
