May I request from your good office for the approval of our Project Proposal on the
Training on Creating Gender Sensitive Classroom of Bayanan Elementary School
scheduled on August 24-25, 2024 in Banayad Resort Brgy. Tambong, Gloria
Oriental Mindoro.

The objectives of this activity are:


a. to increase level of awareness and understanding on GAD concepts,
issues and concerns;
b. to identify gaps and interventions on gender typecasting;
c. to plan and design intervention activities in creating gender sensitive
classroom.

May I also request that teachers involved in this activity be given service credits for
services to be rendered on this occasion.

Attached herewith are the Project/Activity Proposal, Training Matrix, School


Memorandum, and Request for Budget Approval (RBA) per school for your perusal.

II. Rationale (Executive summary stating the purpose of the project)

In line with the Department of Education’s Gender and Development


(GAD) mandate as stipulated in the 1987 Philippine Constitution, Republic
Act (RA) No 9710 or the Magna Carta for Women, and the Philippines’
International Human Rights Commitments to the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights(UDHR) convention on the Elimination of all Forms of
Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and in support to DepEd Order
No. 32 s. 2017 titled “Gender Responsive Basic Education Policy” that
reiterates the DepEd’s commitment to integrate the principles of gender
equality, gender equity, gender sensitivity, non-discrimination, and human
rights in the provision and governance of basic education, Bayanan
Elementary School will be conducting a two-day Gender Sensitivity Training
for all teaching and non-teaching personnel.
Training is the systematic process initiated by the organization that
facilitates relatively permanent changes in the knowledge, skills, or
affect/attitudes of organizational members. Training is most effective when
designed so that trainees are active and encouraged to self-regulate during

training, and when it is well-structured and requires effort on the part of


trainees (Kraiger 2017). Teachers play a crucial role in implementing
educational reforms in accordance with the vision and mission of the
Department of Education. As such, the need for GAD training for staff
development program is a must.
In-service training is a professional and personal educational activity
for teachers to improve their efficiency, ability, knowledge and motivation in
their professional work. It is vital that teachers keep up to date on the most
current concepts, thinking and research in their field and also promote
professional growth among teachers in order to promote excellent and
effective teaching and learning environment for students. In-service training
offers one of the most promising roads to the improvement of instruction.
Learning and development of employees can be a powerful tool,
because investment in employees development demonstrates that the
organization values its people, improves their career, makes them more
successful at work, and also makes the organization more profitable.
It is in this light that creating Gender Sensitive Classroom is found to
be necessary to be the focus of this training. It will heighten the ability of
teachers in planning and designing lessons that are Gender Sensitive. In
return, it will motivate pupils to perform well in class, resulting to an
increase in performance.
This project will benefit 10 teaching and non-teaching personnel of the
Bayanan Elementary School.

Creating Gender Sensitive Classroom on August 24-25, 2024 in Banayad
Resort Brgy. Tambong, Gloria Oriental Mindoro.

1. The training workshop has the following objectives:


a. to increase level of awareness and understanding on GAD
concepts, issues and concerns;
b. to identify gaps and interventions on gender typecasting;
c. to plan and design intervention activities in creating gender
sensitive classroom.
2. Participants to the said training are Bayanan Elementary School
teaching and non-teaching personnel.
3. Expenses relative to the conduct of this training shall be charged
against school MOOE and other local funds subject to usual
accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
4. Immediate and wide dissemination of this memorandum is hereby
enjoined.
