STUDENT COUNCIL SELECTION NOTIFICATION 2024-25

A school council is a formal group of pupils who are elected/selected for participating in the
school's organisational setup. A school council can provide meaningful ways nurturing
leadership, communication and administration. Notice is hereby given to all students and
parents that the selection/election process to the Student Council for the academic Year
2024-25 will commence from April 18, 2024 onwards. The first step of constituting the SC is
filing nominations to the different posts of captaincies.

Nominations are invited for the selection of the following positions. (Captaincy for Grade X
students and Vice-Captaincy for Grades VIII and IX students)

NOMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

2. Last day for filing nomination Friday, April 19, 2024
3. Date for withdrawal of nomination Saturday, April 20, 2024
4. Date of publication of the names of successful nominations Sunday, April 21, 2024
5. Date of selection/election Wednesday, April 24, 2024
6. Date of publication of the result Thursday, April 25, 2024

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR NOMINATIONS

The candidate should have the following eligibility to file the nominations.
1. Nominations to the position of Captain should be from Grade X and for the position of
Vice-Captaincy from VIII and IX.
2. The candidate should furnish correct data as per the admission register.
3. Any errors in the spelling of the names shall nullify the nomination.
4. Candidate should file the nomination within the given date.
5. A student can file a nomination for any 2 posts only.
6. Filing a nomination for more than 2 posts shall invalidate the nomination.
7. Students with a record of any suspension, or divesting a badge, during the
previous/current session cannot file a nomination.
8. Student should be having no records of indiscipline in wearing the uniform, haircut,
neatness, respect for all, including peers.
9. Student should have a minimum of 85% attendance in the current and previous year.
10. Incomplete and late forms will not be accepted.
11. Parents’ consent letter is mandatory while filing for nomination.
12. Students' eligibilities will be assessed based on priority grading and a preferential order.

THE NOMINATIONS SHALL BE REJECTED:

1. If a candidate does not fulfil the eligibility criteria.
2. If a candidate furnishes wrong information in the nomination
3. If the names and other information are not as per the admission register.
4. If the student files a nomination for more than 2 posts.
5. If the student fails to furnish documents as per the criteria.

LAST DATE OF FILING THE NOMINATIONS

The last date for filing the nominations will be Friday, April 19, 2024, before 4:00 pm.

WITHDRAWAL OF THE NOMINATIONS

The last date for withdrawing the nominations will be Saturday, April 20, 2024, before 2:00 pm.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

The selection of the members of the student council shall be done only from the nominated
candidates who obtain the highest score as per the scoring criteria.

The following criteria or qualities will be assessed while considering a candidate for the
SC.
1. Leadership qualities
2. Ability to work as a team/teamwork /team player.
3. Organizational skills.
4. Communication skills: ability to talk confidently and appropriately to teachers and
students.

5. Social skills like the ability to liaison with all without inhibitions, stigma, or any other
consideration.
6. Good academic record (Needs to furnish evidence)
7. Participation in Co-curricular activities (Needs to furnish evidence)
8. Participation in competitions - National, State, District, Taluk, and School level (Attach
certificates).
9. Parent’s consent and ward’s willingness to stay back after school hours whenever
required.
10. The evidence of leadership, communication and other potential shall be restricted to
the following:
a) For Grade X nominations only documents from Grade VII, VIII and IX will be valid.
b) For Grade IX nominations only documents from Grade VI, VII and VIII will be valid.
c) For Grade VIII nominations only documents from Grade V, VI and VII will be valid.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR SELECTION

1. The students should read the eligibility criteria before filing the nominations.
2. The information furnished on the nomination paper should be without mistakes and
accurate.
3. Any false information shall invalidate the student's right to be selected for the SC
4. Students with a record of behavioural problems are not expected to file nominations
and may not be considered.
5. Parents shall have no part to play in the process and selection of the SC other than
permitting their ward, helping them fill up the nomination form and signing the
undertaking.
6. Any undue demand and interference from the parents’ side shall forfeit the right of the
candidate from becoming an eligible candidate to the SC.
7. Captaincy to any post is reserved for Grade X students.
8. Vice-Captaincy to any post is reserved for Grade VIII and IX students.
