Chuandong delivers tanker ahead of schedule part of the steelmaker’s industrial operations and help
decarbonise local mobility. This is the first agreement in
Europe to replace fossil fuels with green hydrogen in the
stainless steel sector.
Lhyfe plans to install a green hydrogen production unit with a
capacity up tp twelve tonnes per day (a maximum electrolysis
capacity of 30 MW), at the Ugitech plant. This green hydrogen
would be used mainly at the Ugitech plant, supplied via a
pipeline. Lhyfe would also supply hydrogen to local mobility
and industry players, to help develop the local hydrogen
ecosystem, particularly in the run-up to the 2030 Winter
Olympics.

STAINLESS STEELS AND NICKEL ALLOYS

[ Petrochemicals ]
Outlook
Growth has been slowing in the
petrochemicals industry. The outlook
is mixed, with the Chinese economy
faltering, Europe heading for recession
and the USA more buoyant. Higher oil
prices and geopolitical instability have
not helped.
Yet chemicals and petrochemicals
are not going anywhere: they are
an integral part of our lives, serving
both end users in household goods
and a wide range of businesses: auto,
hydrogen, semiconductors etc. Demand
in years to come is expected to grow.
Petrochemicals are set to account for
over a third of the growth in oil demand
to 2030 and nearly half to 2050 (1).
According to the IMARC Group, the
market is expected to grow 4.8% per

Most commonly recycled plastics:

Harder to recycle: PVC (piping),

To compare the performance of SDSS
and HDSS, the PREN values of ferrite
and austenite calculated using Thermo-
Calc software are shown in Figure 1. As
may be seen at a temperature range of
1100-1200 °C, PREN of both ferrite and
austenite is more than those for SDSS,
exceeding 48. Thanks to its great alloy
design, optimum PREN of ferrite and
austenite is achieved when their content
is almost equal. It should be noted that
we used typical alloy composition for
the calculations, and the PREN of ferrite
and austenite might vary based on the
actual composition.
