“Copywriting? Do you mean copyright?”


“Does that have something to do with law?”
“Can you actually make money with this copywriting thing?”
“Does it work if I’m from a third-world country?”
These are the questions I had when I first heard of ‘copywriting’ a few months ago.
(And chances are if you’re reading this, you’re currently at this position)

Fast forward to today, I’ve made over $6k and I’m making around $2.5k/mo with copywriting
currently.

(don’t trust payment screenshots btw, they can always be photoshopped)

So to answer some of those questions:


✅ Yes, it’s possible to make money with copywriting.
✅ Yes, you can do it even from a third-world country.
❌ No, it has nothing to do with law.
Copywriting simply means using words to get the reader to take some action.

But here’s the problem:

Thanks to all the conflicting advice on the Internet,

Getting good at copywriting as a beginner feels confusing af.

“Where do I start?”
“Which books do I need to read?
“How do I practice? Do I write emails or sales pages?”

These are just some of the questions I get from beginner copywriters in my inbox daily.

So, to answer your doubts once and for all and to give you a solid roadmap to get good at
copywriting,

I’ve taken the tools, resources & information I used to land my 1st client and put it into a simple
3-phase system that you can use to get so confident in your copywriting skills that you start
landing paid clients in the next 30 days or less.

Introducing…

Copy Trifecta
(The 3-phase system anyone can use to get good at copywriting in the next 30 days or less)
Phase 1: Foundations

Think of it like playing a video game.


In Phase 1, your goal is to explore the map & understand the rules.

- Learn the basics of copywriting & persuasion.


- What makes a copy “good” vs “bad”?
- Understand what gets people to buy.
- What does writing copy irl look like?
- What emotions do your words need to target?

Action items:

Read these 3 books:


- Take Their Money by Kyle Milligan
- Great Leads
- Copywriting Secrets

Watch these videos:


- FREE 2 Hour Copywriting Masterclass (2024) (youtube.com)
- Watch me make $1500 in one hour (copywriting) (youtube.com)
- How To Get Your FIRST Copywriting Client (With No Experience) (youtube.com)
- copywriting tips to hang on your wall (youtube.com)
- Copywriting tips for million dollar emails (youtube.com)

Take notes:
- Get a separate notebook or use Google Docs.
- When reading these books/watching videos, note the key points, Eg, “NESB” from Take
Their Money, Customer Awareness levels from Great Leads, F.R.E.D from Copywriting
Secrets.
Even if you just master the principles from these 3 books, you’ll be set to make your first $1k
with copywriting.

Depending on how much time you have & your experience level, this will take 5-10 days.

Phase 2: Observe

Now that you understand the rules of the games, it’s time to observe how the pros play.

In Phase 2, your goal is to become a pattern-recognition machine. Study good pieces of copy
and see how the top creators/ coaches/ influencers use the principles & techniques you studied
in Phase 1 in their copy.

- Study 15 sales letters from this website: Swipe-Worthy » Swipe File Archive » Marketing
& Copywriting Examples (swiped.co)
- Sign up to email lists/newsletters of top creators & coaches (Iman Gadzhi, Dakota
Robertson, Zarak) and study their emails.

By study, I mean..

- Write down the audience awareness level & lead type.


- Take notes on how they target the customer’s fears, pains, desires.
- Notice how they use NESB, how they build intrigue, urgency, scarcity.
- How they use stories & analogies to overcome your objections & shift beliefs.

Bonus:
- Build your own swipe file (folder to store best copy you find to use later for inspiration)
- Handwrite all the sales pages & sales letters from the action items.
- Break down this video & observe what copywriting principles he used:

This can take 10-15 days depending on how much time you have.

Phase 3: Play
You know the rules, you’ve seen the pros play. Now its your turn to play.
Take what you’ve learned from Phase 1 & 2 and start writing.

What should you write?

- Open YT, search:


“How to make money online?”
“How to grow your biceps?”
“How to approach women?”

Filter by duration & upload date to get different results.

- Open IG, search:


“Fitness coach”
“Business coach”
“Relationship coach”

Open a profile & click on the + icon to find more similar profiles.
Just by scrolling for 5-10 mins, you’ll find at least 3 accounts selling courses/coaching.

- Click on their link in bio


- Sign up to their email lists/visit their sales page

Are they already sending emails/have a sales page?

- If no: Write it for them and send it for free.


- If yes: Make it better and send it for free.

Can’t figure out where to start? Refer to your swipe file.


Can’t write a full sales page? Start with emails/YT Scripts.

Write 3-5 pieces of copy every day, repeat for the next 10-15 days.

Congratulations, now you have the skills to make your first $1k with copywriting.
Bonus Phase: Re-spawn

Just like in a video game, you don’t beat the final boss in your first attempt.
You die, you respawn and get better with every attempt.

Similarly, in the game of copywriting, the more you play the better you get.

And if you’ve completed all action steps upto this point, chances are you’ve already landed your
1st client.

But in case you haven’t (or are looking for your next client),

RE-SPAWN

Run Phase 1 to 3 again,

Read other copywriting books, study other sales pages, explore other niches.

The more you do this, the better and faster you get at copy & outreach.

And before you know, the compound effect kicks in and you start landing multiple clients.

Only way you lose the game is if you quit playing.
