7A The passive

EXERCISE 1

Fill in the blanks with the passive voice of the verb in parentheses ( ). Choose an appropriate
tense.

Example: Hollywood was built in the early 1900s. (build)

1. Most American movies are made in Hollywood. (make)

EXERCISE 4

Fill in the blanks with don’t have to or should not describe situations in a public library.

EXAMPLES

EXERCISE 6

Rearrange the words or phrases to make meaningful sentences. Do NOT add any new words or

EXERCISE 8

Rewrite the direct speech as reported speech.

1 ‘Our company is planning to move out of the city centre next month,’ they said.

Last Monday, Steve told Olivia she couldn’t borrow her bike that night.

4 ‘I’ve never encountered any aliens before,’ I told the reporter.
