NARRATIVE

It was a lot of pleasure to carry out a missionary work in Lantap, Bagabag, Nueva
Vizcaya on February 17, 2024, at our church's children's institute with a theme of GOD IS
LOVE. My main objective as an institute program teacher was to teach and inform the kids
in our Barangay about God and His teachings. I decided to enlist because I wanted to share
the value of faith with the next generation and participate in meaningful service. Before
doing the activity, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. Being an only child, I lacked
experience in interacting with large groups of children, and the thought of leading them in
religious education was frightening.

However, as the days progressed, I began to enjoy teaching until I befriended our
students. The task involved working with fellow church members to visit homes in the
Barangay, inviting children to participate in our session. Once gathered, we engaged them
in various activities, including teaching Bible stories, memorizing verses, singing Christian
songs, and facilitating creative tasks like drawing and coloring. . The conduct of these kids
was one of the biggest obstacles we faced. Even though we made every attempt to keep the
classroom calm and orderly, their enthusiasm and mischievousness frequently caused
disruptions. Nevertheless, we managed to get their attention by using creativity in teaching
techniques, such as rewarding well-behaved kids with candy, along with tolerance and
understanding. At the end of this session, we also gave them snacks, and let them play their
own way of playing. It was a great experience knowing children will be shaped as one of
the missionaries someday, and they will also share the word of God.

My early sentiments of fear gradually gave way to a profound sense of joy and
contentment throughout the event. Being a teacher in the institute programme gave me the
opportunity to adopt the position of a big sister, assisting and supporting our students'
spiritual development. It brings me much joy to see how excited they are to learn about
God. Even though these kids are hyper, I still want to experience teaching them because of
the time constraints.

Furthermore, this event was a potent reminder of how important it is to share the
gospel, particularly with young people who might not have had much exposure to religious
teachings.

REFLECTION

My recent missionary experience at the children's institute in Lantap, Nueva

Vizcaya, was a truly fulfilling journey. The theme, "GOD IS LOVE," resonated deeply as I
strived to impart faith values and Bible knowledge to the young minds in our Barangay.
Initially, I grappled with a mix of excitement and apprehension. As an only child, I wasn't
accustomed to handling large groups, and the prospect of leading them in religious
education was daunting.

My experience at the children's institute in Lantap highlights the importance of faith

sharing and the challenges of nurturing faith in young minds. It emphasizes the importance
of passing on religious values to the next generation, overcoming apprehension, and using
creative engagement to keep children engaged. Our patience and understanding of the
children's energy levels were evident, demonstrating the need for adapting teaching styles.
The most rewarding aspect was witnessing the children's enthusiasm for learning about
God, a testament to the impact on their spiritual development. The teacher's desire to
continue teaching the children highlights the ongoing nature of faith development and the
need for a strong spiritual foundation. The experience serves as an inspiration for others
who may feel called to share their faith with younger generations. Teaching children about
God requires dedication, patience, and a willingness to adapt, and by fostering a love of
learning and nurturing their curiosity, you can play a vital role in shaping their spiritual
journey. Embracing god in their lives, at their age is very crucial, nowadays, children tend
to forget to go to church or to simply pray to God.

This mission served as a powerful reminder of the importance of sharing the gospel,
especially with youngsters who may not have had ample exposure to religious teachings. It
was a privilege to contribute to their spiritual foundation and ignite a passion for God's
love within them. This experience has left an indelible mark on me. It has instilled a sense

of responsibility to continue serving the community and nurturing the faith of the younger
generation. I am confident that by working together, we can empower these children to
become future ambassadors of God's love.
