continuously review all specifications of the product referring to its latest catalog information, with a view to
giving due consideration to any possibility of equipment failure when configuring the equipment.
2. Only personnel with appropriate training should operate machinery and equipment.
The product specified here may become unsafe if handled incorrectly. The assembly, operation and
maintenance of machines or equipment including our products must be performed by an operator who is
appropriately trained and experienced.
3. Do not service or attempt to remove product and machinery/equipment until safety is confirmed.
1. The inspection and maintenance of machinery/equipment should only be performed after measures to
prevent falling or runaway of the driven objects have been confirmed.
2. When the product is to be removed, confirm that the safety measures as mentioned above are implemented
and the power from any appropriate source is cut, and read and understand the specific product precautions
of all relevant products carefully.
3. Before machinery/equipment is restarted, take measures to prevent unexpected operation and malfunction.
4. Our products cannot be used beyond their specifications. Our products are not developed,
designed, and manufactured to be used under the following conditions or environments. Use
under such conditions or environments is not covered.
1. Conditions and environments outside of the given specifications, or use outdoors or in a place exposed to
direct sunlight.
2. Use for nuclear power, railways, aviation, space equipment, ships, vehicles, military application, equipment
affecting human life, body, and property, fuel equipment, entertainment equipment, emergency shut-off
circuits, press clutches, brake circuits, safety equipment, etc., and use for applications that do not conform
to standard specifications such as catalogs and operation manuals.
3. Use for interlock circuits, except for use with double interlock such as installing a mechanical protection
function in case of failure. Please periodically inspect the product to confirm that the product is operating
properly.

Safety Instructions
Caution
We develop, design, and manufacture our products to be used for automatic control equipment, and
provide them for peaceful use in manufacturing industries.
Use in non-manufacturing industries is not covered.
Products we manufacture and sell cannot be used for the purpose of transactions or certification specified in the
Measurement Act.
The new Measurement Act prohibits use of any unit other than SI units in Japan.
Compliance Requirements
1. The use of SMC products with production equipment for the manufacture of weapons of mass destruction
(WMD) or any other weapon is strictly prohibited.
2. The exports of SMC products or technology from one country to another are governed by the relevant security
laws and regulations of the countries involved in the transaction. Prior to the shipment of a SMC product to
another country, assure that all local rules governing that export are known and followed.

1. Prior to the installation, confirm the direction of the INLET(2 places)and it should be installed to house the
case ③ in the oil tank.
2. When the filter is placed on the oil tank, confirm the“O”ring ⑦ is fitted to the main body ②.
3. The INLET are located at two places, when one of them are not used, should be closed by plug.
4. Keep sufficient space at upper portion to enable the element be removed for maintenance purpose.
5. OUTLET part of the case ③ should stay under oil all the tome. Exposing it out of oil may cause mixture
of air into the oil.
6. When the line flushed after the filter is installed, the element should be replaced before entering into
normal operation.
7. Prior to the operation, no leakage should be confirmed on each sealed part.

1. Slacken the two small cross‐recessed pan head screws indicated by ① in Fig. 1, then remove the
switch box by pulling it upwards.
2. Remove the four cross‐recessed pan head screws ② from the switch box, then remove box cover ③.
3. Remove cord rubber plug ④, then perform wiring according to the following procedure.
3-1. Using a connector, or the like, connect the plane terminals of the micro switch to either the NO or NC
contacts. Do not remove the micro switch from the switch box. Use the plane connector
(receptacle #187) or solder for the wiring. Upon completion of wiring work, install box cover ③ by
gradually tightening up the four small cross‐recessed pan head ②.
3-2. Cut the connecting cord to a sufficient length so that the filter can be disassembled easily.
3-3. Insert the switch box until there is no clearance at the top of the cover assembly, then arbitrarily
decide upon its mounting direction, and fix it in position by screwing up the two small cross‐
recessed pan head screws ①.

While operation, when the differential pressure is built up by 0.18MPa or (red colored) indication ring of
differential pressure indicator comes up to the sight dome, else when electric signal is sent by differential
pressure switch, stop the operation and disassemble by following steps to replace the element;(in a case of
micro-mesh, wash it and if it still can't be cleaned up, replace it). And in winter under low temperature,
erratic movement of differential indicator is often caused by high viscosity (of oil) so that it should be
checked whether due to clog, after normal operation is begun. And in design feature, when differential
pressure switch is used to set up sequential circuit for mechanical control system to detect the clogged
signal, it should be designed not to pick up the clogged signal until the machine makes normal running.
And if it is with relief valve, when the differential pressure is built up more than 0.25MPa, pre-filtrated oil is
bypassed to secondary circuit;the element should be replaced in early times.
【1】Removal of element
1. Loosen all four pcs of hexagon head cap screw ④ and remove the cover ①.
2. Remove the element ⑩, housed in the main body ②.
3. Replace the removed paper element to new one.
【2】Mounting of element
1. Check damage, deformation, expansion, hardening of the“O”rings of ⑦ and ⑬, and upon finding any
abnormality, it should be replaced to new one.
2. Sufficient care should be taken not to damage the element ⑩ and so insert it into the main body ②.
3. Confirm the direction of the INLET and install cover ① to the main body ②.
4. Tighten the cover ① by (4 pcs. of) hexagon socket head cap screw.
5. Upon confirming no leakage detected from sealed part and start operation.
6. Differential pressure indicator ⑮ should be re-set without failure after the element is washed or replaced.
But differential pressure switch ⑯ is auto-return (non-re-set) type.
