Whiskers in The Moonlight
Whiskers in The Moonlight
In the quiet corners of an old barn, where the scent of hay and grain lingered in the air, lived a
little mouse named Milo. Milo was a curious mouse, always eager to explore the nooks and
crannies of the barn. One evening, as the moonlight bathed the barn in a silvery glow, Milo found
himself drawn to the forbidden attic, a place his family had warned him never to go.
Up in the attic, hidden beneath a pile of dusty blankets, lived a rat named Ruby. Ruby was
di erent from other rats Milo had seen. She had sleek fur and eyes that sparkled like the stars.
Though their worlds were separate, Milo couldn’t help but feel a strange connection to her.
“Who are you?” Ruby asked, her voice soft but with an edge of caution.
“I’m Milo,” he replied, feeling a strange flutter in his chest. “I live downstairs. I’ve never seen you
before.”
“That’s because I stay out of sight,” Ruby said. “Your family wouldn’t approve of me.”
Milo knew she was right. Mice and rats were supposed to be enemies, or at the very least, rivals.
But there was something about Ruby that made Milo forget all that. They talked for hours,
sharing stories of their lives, their dreams, and their fears. As the moonlight faded, Milo realized
he didn’t want to leave.
And so, a secret friendship blossomed under the cover of darkness. Night after night, Milo and
Ruby met in the attic, growing closer with each passing moment. But deep down, they both
knew that their families would never accept their bond.
One evening, as they sat close together, watching the moon rise, Milo whispered, “I think…I
think I’m falling in love with you.”
Ruby’s eyes softened. “I feel the same, Milo. But what will we do? Our families…”
“We’ll find a way,” Milo said, determination in his voice. “Love can conquer anything, right?”
Ruby smiled, though her heart was heavy with doubt. As the first rays of dawn began to creep
into the attic, they knew their time was up. They parted ways, each returning to their own world,
but their hearts remained intertwined.
