Fiber optics deals with the transmission and reception of light waves/signal using optical fibers.
Fiber-optic cables provide high bandwidths and low losses which allow high data-transmission rates over
long distances. Light is kept in the fiber core by the principle total internal reflection. This causes the fiber to
act as a waveguide.
