INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
There is an agreement that there is a significant increase in technology investments
in the educational sector all over the world in the past two decades. The major
assumption upon which the vast majority of these investments were made was that
“technology-mediated learning environments positively contribute to create endless
opportunities for learners to search, analyze, workout problematic issues,
communicate other and work in teams” (Lim, et al., 2013). They are then equipped
with a multiple competency that make them competitive as possible in the twenty first
century. Nevertheless, it is perceived from the history of implementing technology in
education that educators tend to abandon any type of technology that is not
complaint with the social organization of schooling (CUBAN, 2005). Technology
plays an important role in education. When it is applied properly, it can be a
determining factor in influencing students’ knowledge and learning (Lister, 2015).
Some of the benefits of implementing technology in basic education include making
learning more interactive and less boring. It improves students’ attitudes towards
knowledge and their interest in learning. In addition, technology provides
opportunities for learning control as well as it can help students investigate and
answer complex questions, develop new thinking skills, and access, evaluate, and
synthesize information (Hanus & Fox, 2015). Furthermore, technology can help
students set goals, form and test hypotheses. Technology also offers tools to share
knowledge and learn in teams rather than individually. Moreover, education
technologies make students more efficient and organized in their way of learning
(Delgado, et al., 2015).
The extreme heat has introduced uncertainty into the major aspects of national and
global society, including the schools, Education officials have been forced to cancel
classes for numbers of days, keeping student’s retention and maintaining access to
learning has been through online courses. One of these was through mobile
learning, also called m-learning, is a form of e-learning which can take place anytime
and anywhere with the help of mobile connection devices such as mobile phone,
iPod, a personal digital assistant (PDA) or any such small portable devices (Kadirire,
2009). Thanks to advances witnessed in the information technology, there is now
what is known as M-learning (Mobile Learning) in which the internet and smart
phones are integrated in education. Instructors grow more likely to assess their
students’ competencies and knowledge the instructional process.
There are various programs and applications that enable instructors to immediate
feedback during the formative assessment process, with the aim of improving
students’ performance (Elmahdi, et al., 2018). Given the uncertainties surrounding
any change, education professionals always tend not to breach the status quo.
1
Technological tools particularly mobile phones were once considered as a distraction
in the classroom, but sometime it could still be considered as true. But as time went
by, people have slowly found out that phones can be turned into learning tools too.
As heat waves created an enormous challenge to learning on global scale and one
that continues to affect our daily experience, eLearning’s mobile-friendly nature has
risen to meet that challenge as an unprecedented numbers of students and
professionals where forced into the virtual space by stay-at-home orders for numbers
of days with closures of school environment, and these is because of heat waves
that is currently facing by our country.
The Consolacion National High School is also adopting the sudden changes brought
by this sudden change. Through distance learning the students are still able to
access school with the help of mobile devices such phones, laptops, personal
computers, tablets etc. although there were still things that the students don’t know
about devices they still continue using it since this is the only way they can connect
to their classes.
Through mobile learning and educational technology, students have already
determined the usefulness of these devices in their lives. With the help of
educational technology, students were able to know as how it affects their state of
learning.

STUDENTS
PERCEIVED PERCEIVED
USEFULNESS EASE OF USE
Figure 1. The two sub-sections of the study: perceived usefulness and perceived
ease of use.
This study circulated on these two sub sections namely perceived usefulness and
perceived ease of use. Due to uncertainty and changes like for example the heat
wave, the schools and other institution switched from conventional learning to online
learning for a number of days. Most of the students only use their mobile phones in
keeping up with the online classes so it has become mobile learning at some point.
Perceived ease of use is about how easy or difficult the students think are the
software and applications used in mobile learning. Perceived usefulness will also
help the students in their learning process in a way that they actually believe that a
certain function in a mobile phone will enhance students learning outcome.
Connecting the two sub-sections, if the students actually intend in using educational
technology to learn, they will eventually recognize the usefulness of the device and
its impact to students learning outcome.
3
Statement of the Problem
The heat waves and sudden changes with our environment took our country by
surprise. Locally some day to day doings stopped/ lessen. As a student who
experience participating in the home-learning program, online school was confusing
to adjust as we had not been prepared and knowledgeable by some of the
educational technology. One example of this is mobile learning, it is one of the way
how students access to their online class. But since students are not used in this
kind of school setting, they had experienced differently. The Consolacion National
High School- evening class has also adopted this kind of learning were most
students uses their mobile phones in passing assignments, projects and tasks. But
since not all students are given a chance to own a mobile phone some of the
students struggles on how are they going to be connected with their studies, time
management, pressure, ample activities to be accomplished and destructions are the
most common problems that could actually affect the students learning outcome.
Hypothesis
We are able to build study hypotheses as follows:
Hypothesis 1. There is a significant impact of perceived usefulness of educational
technology in Consolacion National High School- evening class.
Hypothesis 2. There is a significant impact of ease of use of the educational
technology in Consolacion National High School- evening class.
4
School Administrator. This study will enable the school administrators to think of
the possible help and support mechanism as well as program on how they are going
to help students who are mostly experiencing problems and has low learning
outcome.
Parents. This study enables the parents to know the needed help and support of
their children during their low times as they are experiencing difficulty in learning.
Teachers. This study will help the teachers to know the different support mechanism
that the student need to better learn through the use of educational technology. Also,
it is helpful for them to assist, enlighten and create awareness to students about the
impact of educational technology to their learning outcomes.
Students. Through this study students were be able to perceive new better service
and perception about educational technology and its impact to their learning or
performance. It will help them cope in finding solutions to their problems.
Community. This study is informational to the community for it contains the impact
of educational technology to students learning outcome. Becoming a great citizen
requires knowledge that would help the community grow in prosperity.
Definition of Terms
5
A term could carry multiple and complicated meanings, in order to define
them clearly and understand the specific word. With that, the researchers had
presented lists of terms that can give the readers accurate information.
Mobile Learning- offer benefits such as quick access to information for students,
diverse ways of learning, contextual learning, control over own learning, increased
participation in the strand.
Educational Technology- The field of study that investigates the process of
analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the instructional
environment, learning materials, learners, and the learning process in order to
improve teaching and learning.
Learning Outcome- Describe the measurable skills, abilities, knowledge or values
that students should be able to demonstrate as a result of a completing a course.
Gamification- Combines playing and learning by utilizing gaming as an instructional
tool, according to Newman, who explains that incorporating gaming technology into
the classroom “can make learning difficult subject matter more exciting and
interactive.”

Review of Related Literature and Studies
Foreign Literature
In foreign literature, the intersection of educational technology and student learning
outcomes has been a focal point, revealing a nuanced landscape shaped by diverse
contexts and methodologies. Scholars worldwide have examined this dynamic
relationship, shedding light on both the potential advantages and challenges
associated with the integration of technology in education.
Research conducted in countries like South Korea has highlighted the transformative
impact of educational technology on student engagement and academic
achievement. Lee and Suh (2019) found that incorporating technology-enhanced
learning activities led to heightened motivation and improved learning outcomes
among students. Their study underscored the importance of interactive and adaptive
technologies in catering to diverse learning styles and enhancing student
participation.
Similarly, investigations in Sweden by Andersson and Grönlund (2017) delved into
the effects of digital tools on student performance. Their findings emphasized that
when technology is strategically employed; it can bolster critical thinking skills, foster
collaborative learning environments, and deepen conceptual understanding.
However, they also stressed the pivotal role of teacher training and support in
effectively leveraging technology to enhance learning outcomes.
Conversely, research from Brazil by Barreto and Cortez (2018) brought attention to
the digital divide and disparities in access to technology among students. They
argued that without addressing these inequities, the potential of educational
technology to improve learning outcomes would remain limited. Their work
underscored the need for policymakers and educators to prioritize initiatives aimed at
narrowing the digital gap and ensuring equitable access to technology-enhanced
learning resources.
Foreign Studies
Moreover, studies from countries like Finland, Singapore, and Canada have explored
innovative approaches to integrating technology into education, emphasizing the
importance of pedagogical innovation, curriculum alignment, and ongoing evaluation
to maximize the benefits of educational technology on student learning outcomes.
In summary, foreign literature offers valuable insights into the multifaceted
relationship between educational technology and student learning outcomes. While
technology holds immense potential to enhance engagement, motivation, and critical
thinking skills, its effective implementation requires a holistic approach that
addresses pedagogical, socio-economic, and infrastructural factors. By fostering
collaboration, research, and policy initiatives, educators and policymakers can
7
harness the transformative power of technology to create inclusive, student-centered
learning environments that prepare learners for success in the digital age.
Local Literature
In the Philippine context, several local studies have delved into the impact of
educational technology on student learning outcomes. Santos and Ong (2018)
conducted a study on the integration of technology in teaching mathematics to
elementary students. They found that students who were exposed to educational
technology exhibited significant improvement in their mathematical skills compared
to those who were not.
Likewise, Cruz (2019) explored the use of multimedia technology to enhance English
language proficiency among high school students. The study revealed that students
who utilized multimedia materials showed better comprehension and communication
skills in English compared to those who relied solely on traditional teaching methods.
Additionally, Garcia (2020) investigated the effectiveness of interactive learning
platforms in science education among junior high school students. The research
indicated that students who engaged with interactive technology demonstrated
higher levels of understanding and retention of scientific concepts.
These local studies collectively emphasize the positive impact of integrating
educational technology into the classroom setting. They highlight how technology,
when appropriately utilized, can enhance student engagement, comprehension, and
retention across various subjects. However, further research is necessary to explore
the long-term effects and sustainability of implementing educational technology in
Philippine education.
Local Studies
Various studies have explored the impact of educational technology on student
learning outcomes. A study by Santos and Ong (2018) investigated the effects of
integrating technology in teaching mathematics among elementary students.
Findings revealed that students who used educational technology showed significant
improvement in their mathematical skills compared to those who did not.
Similarly, a study conducted by Cruz (2019) focused on the utilization of multimedia
technology in enhancing English language proficiency among high school students.
Results indicated that students exposed to multimedia materials exhibited better

methods.
8
These local studies collectively suggest that integrating educational technology into
the classroom positively impacts student learning outcomes. The interactive and
multimedia nature of technology enhances student engagement, comprehension,
and retention of subject matter across various disciplines. However, further research
is needed to explore the long-term effects and sustainability of integrating technology
in education in the Philippine context.

CHAPTER III
Methodology
This chapter presents the research method used, the respondents, the
instrumentation, data gathering procedure and statistical treatment.
Research Design
The researchers utilized quantitative approach using descriptive method in
gathering information about the impact of Educational Technology in Students
Learning Outcome.
Krathwohl. D. R., (2009) defined descriptive research as a purposive
process of gathering, analyzing, classifying, and tabulating data about prevailing
condition, practices, beliefs, processes, trends, and cause-effect relationships and
then making adequate and accurate interpretation about such data with or without
the aid of statistical methods.
A descriptive type of research according to Best (1993) involves the
collection of data to answer questions concerning to the current status of the subject
in the study. It is designed to gather information or conditions existing at a particular
period of time. The focus of the whole process is on the discovery of theory on
comparison or contrast of the findings.

Research Respondents
This study focused on the Impact of Educational Technology to Students
Learning Outcome, in Consolacion National High School- Evening class.
The researchers have randomly selected the respondents from two (2) sections of
Humanities and Social Science (HUMSS) in the Consolacion National High School
with total respondents of 30 students.
Research Instrument
In gathering the data, the researchers have utilized survey questionnaire.
The questionnaire is the most important instrument used in the study. It is the major
tool used by researchers in gathering the significant data from the respondents. The
instrument was designed in a simple and clear manner, which was divided into two
parts, part 1 contain the respondents information/ profile, Gmail account, full name,
gender, and year level and section. Part 2 is on viable to establish the Impact of
Educational Technology in Students Learning Outcome. The questionnaire focuses
on two (2) sub-sections, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Each
question is answerable by yes or no.
Statistical treatment
After the collection and gathering data, results were encoded to computer
software which is Microsoft Excel. Tallying the data and the frequency percentage
distribution was utilized in the study. The results determined the impact of
Educational Technology on the students learning outcome. The result was based on
the given questionnaires.
11
The researchers utilized the following statistical tool to interpret the data of the
study effectively:
Percentage was used to discover the frequency counts and distribution of
percentages of personal profile of the respondents. As explained by Brown (2014)
like fractions, percent are away the represent parts of an entire. However, in percent
one whole is always considered to be 100%. According to Young (2019) frequency
distribution depends on the data being analyzed and the objectives of the
researchers.
Mean was used to identify the valuation of the respondents based on their personal
profiles. According to one study of Martinez (2019) It was stated that to get the mean
the sum of all data entries must be divided by the numbers of entries.
As explained by Turner (2013) mean is a measure of central tendency that is
most appropriately used for continuous data. The mean of a set of data points is
defined as their sum divided by the total number of data points.
Formula:

X= mean
ETHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS
In conducting the research survey, the researchers guaranteed that the
respondents were not forced when it comes to answering the survey questionnaires.
Since the survey is given during their vacant time, the researchers gave the
respondents ample time to answer the survey. The researchers also made sure that
the questions from the survey will remain confidential and they assure to protect the
privacy of the respondents. The respondents were also informed prior to the survey
12
with the informed consent approved by the research adviser. The researcher have
secured letter to be sent to the principal before they started giving the survey
questionnaires to the respondents. All the data that were gathered from the survey
will be secured by the researchers.

Technology is continually changing the way we work and play, create and
communicate. So it's only natural that advancement in digital technology are also
creating game changing opportunities in the word of education.
As the study was concluded, findings show that educational technology will be useful
in their learning which also affect their learning outcomes. Indeed, educational
technology is one of the most less expensive and more helpful in providing
knowledge easily.
Recommendations
This study provided recommendations of continuing the research for future use, and
since for the research is needed, it needs huge amount of time. For the respondents,
it is recommended to make all grade 12 students with different strand to be the
respondents of the research so that the researchers can differentiate the results of
the study between each strands. Since the researchers of the study were not able to
make all grade 12 students to be their respondents due to limited time to conduct the
study, it is advised for the future researchers to do so. For teachers and school
administrators, it is highly recommended to provide an effective support mechanism
for students as they continue their studies through distance learning today, in order
for them to have better learning outcomes through the use of educational.
