Karl Katz
A great many years ago there lived in a village at the foot of a mountain, a man called Katz Katz. Karl was a
goat herder and every morning he drove his flock to a part of the mountain side where there were patches of
good grass. In the evenings he sometimes thought it too late to drive his flock home, so he used to shut up
the animals in a ruin in the woods. The ruin was part of an old castle that had long been deserted. One
evening he found that the prettiest goat of his flock had vanished soon after they were driven into the fold.
He searched for it everywhere but in vain.
