apply them to a wide range of operations.
• Examine the types of transformation process occurring within operations; and
• Understand the content of an operations strategy and the decisions involved.
Operations Management
 the management of operating process to achieve the highest possible
degree of productivity within the enterprise.
 3 core functions:
• Marketing function (communicating)
• Product/service development function (creating)
• Operations function (fulfilling)

➢ Support functions:
• The accounting and finance function
• The human resources function
Responsibilities of Operations Management
 Product Design – requires the production of a product that will be
marketed to the end costumer.

 Forecasting – involves making predictions of events that will occur in


the future based on past evidence

 Supply chain management – involves monitoring the manufacturing


cycle from raw materials to finished goods.

 Delivery Management – supplier shall ensure that the goods are


shipped to the customer in a timely manner.
Ideal Skills of an Operation Manager
 Organizational Abilities - the ability of the Operations Manager to
concentrate on various tasks without being overwhelmed by other
process

 Coordination – have strong teamwork by understanding how to


coordinate resources, tasks and time to ensure the best use resources.

 People Skills – learn how to respond to staff, outside stakeholders and


other senior management leaders.

 Tech-savy- to have an appreciation for technology in order to be able


to develop process

actions that are typically produced and consumed simultaneously.
Some common examples are haircuts, auto repairs and landscaping .

 Producer Services – the production and delivery of goods and services


and constitute firms providing services such as consulting advise, legal
advice, IT support, transportation and maintenance facilities.

out internally and which tasks are outsourced

well as know how and intellectual property
