Lesson Title: Filipino Pyramid Activity Guide

Instructional Model: 7E’s (Elicit, Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate,


Extend, Evaluate)

I. Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1. Identify the different levels of the Filipino Pyramid Activity Guide.


2. Explain the importance of each level of the pyramid in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
3. Demonstrate physical activities corresponding to each level of the pyramid.

II. Materials

 Visuals/Slides of the Filipino Pyramid Activity Guide


 Projector/Whiteboard
 Activity Sheets
 Markers/Whiteboard Pens
 Mat for physical activities

III. Procedure

1. Elicit (5 minutes)

Objective: Gauge prior knowledge and understanding of physical activity levels.

 Activity:
o Ask students to share what they know about physical activities and their
benefits.
o Have them list down their daily activities that involve physical movement.
 Questions:
o "What physical activities do you engage in daily?"
o "Why do you think these activities are important?"
2. Engage (10 minutes)

Objective: Introduce the Filipino Pyramid Activity Guide and pique interest.

 Activity:
o Show an image of the Filipino Pyramid Activity Guide.
o Briefly explain the purpose of the guide and its role in promoting health.
 Discussion:
o "What do you notice about the different levels of the pyramid?"
o "How do you think this pyramid can help you in your daily life?"

3. Explore (10 minutes)

Objective: Allow students to discover and categorize activities based on the pyramid.

 Activity:
o Divide students into small groups.
o Provide them with a list of activities (e.g., walking, jogging, watching TV,
etc.).
o Ask them to categorize these activities according to the levels of the pyramid.
 Task:
o "Place each activity under the appropriate level of the pyramid."

4. Explain (10 minutes)

Objective: Clarify the significance of each level in the pyramid.

 Activity:
o Discuss the levels of the pyramid:
1. Base (Everyday Activities): Activities that are part of daily routines.
2. Level 2 (Aerobic Exercises): Activities that increase heart rate.
3. Level 3 (Leisure Activities): Activities for relaxation and recreation.
4. Top (Sedentary Activities): Activities that involve minimal physical
movement.
 Discussion:
o "Why is it important to engage more in the activities at the base of the
pyramid?"
o "What might be the consequences of spending too much time on activities at
the top?"

5. Elaborate (10 minutes)

Objective: Connect the pyramid to real-life scenarios.

 Activity:
o Ask students to think about their weekly schedule.
o Have them identify which activities align with each level of the pyramid.
o Discuss ways to improve their activity patterns based on the guide.
 Task:
o "How can you adjust your daily routine to include more activities from the
base of the pyramid?"

6. Extend (10 minutes)

Objective: Apply the pyramid guide in a physical activity.

 Activity:
o Organize a short physical activity session where students perform exercises
from each level of the pyramid.
o Examples:
1. Base: Walking in place.
2. Level 2: Jogging on the spot.
3. Level 3: Simple stretching or yoga poses.
4. Top: A quick discussion on minimizing sedentary activities.
 Task:
o "Let’s practice exercises from each level of the pyramid."

7. Evaluate (5 minutes)

Objective: Assess students' understanding of the pyramid and their ability to apply it.

 Activity:
