Dissolve >> merge shapes together into one shape by selected column .

Buffer >> add a polygon around selected shape with a measurement I specify .

Clip >> extract a part of shape that inside another shape.

Intersect >> extract the common area.

Union >> merge areas or shapes together.

How to split polygons? Enter edit mode then select a polygon then click on.

How to calculate the area of a polygon and the length of a line? First, you need to know the UTM zone from google earth then
change the coordinate system to projected coordinate system and make it as UTM (You can check the system in properties
then source under coordinate system type), Then create a column in the attribute table called area then right click and select
geometry calculate and then choose the units and ok.

How to create my own shapes? First, create shape file in the shapes folder then select the data type and specify the
coordinate system then start editing and save shapes.

Export files as shape file or use layer to kmz file so you can open your layer in google earth.

You can edit raster data style from properties.

How to clip a raster data type? Create new shape file and make it a polygon (when clipping make sure that the two data types
have the same coordinate system) the search for clip from data management and clip.

How to get a graph of sight line in DEM raster data? First get the 3D analyst tool bar from there choose create a sight line
(before doing this make sure that the layer is also in the same coordinate system as the DEM raster file) from the 3D analyst
tool bar choose graph.

How to get the 3D view of sight line in DEM raster file? From the 3D analyst tool bar, choose Arc Scene, drop the file in Arc
Scene, then go to the properties of the DEM file then Base heights, then choose the floating on surface, and customize the
height.

How to get the average elevation of an area? Search for zonal statistics (create a zone and make sure that the DEM raster file
coordinate system is the same as the new zone created) and chose the area and the DEM raster file and choose what type of
calculations wanted.
