RAILWAY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION
The Railway Reservation System facilitates the passengers to enquire about the trains available on the
basis of source and destination, Booking and Cancellation of tickets, enquire about the status of the
booked ticket, etc. The aim of case study is to design and develop a database maintaining the records
of different trains, train status, and passengers.

This project contains Introduction to the Railways reservation system It is the computerized system of
reserving the seats of train seats in advanced. It is mainly used for long route. On-line reservation has
made the process for the reservation of seats very much easier than ever before

The main purpose of maintaining database for Railway Reservation System is to reduce the manual
errors involved in the booking and cancelling of tickets and make it convenient for the customers and
providers to maintain the data about their customers and also about the seats available at them.
Module Description
A. TRAIN (T_ID, T_Name, T_Type):

This Module contains


1. Train Id number which is unique in nature.
2. Train Name.
3. Type of Train such as Express, Superfast etc.

B. PASSENGERS (P_ID, P_Name, Gender, Seat_Number, Coaches, Age):

This Module contains


1. Passenger’s Unique Id number.
2. Passenger’s Name.
3. Gender of the Passenger.
4. Seat Number allocated to the given Passenger.
5. Coach Number/Letter will tell us about the exact location of the
seat.
6. Age of the Passenger.

C. TRACKS (Track_No, Length):

This module contains


1. Track Number which helps the Passenger to determine the
Train’s Flatform Number.
2. Length of the Platform will help the admin to determine which
kind of train can use that particular platform
D. STATION (S_ID, S_Name, Place):
This Module contains
1. Station ID which is unique in nature.
2. Station Name which helps to determine the source and
destination Station.
3. Place of the Station where it is located.

E. SCHEDULE (Schedule_ID, Start_Time, Source, End_Time,


Destination) :
This Module Contains
1. Schedule Id is unique ID given to a Passenger for uniquely
identifying its Ticket.
2. Departure Time of the Train.
3. Source Station from which Passenger begin its journey.
4. Arrival Time of the Train.
5. Destination of the Passenger.

F. ROUTE (Route_no, Total_Stops) :


This Module contains
1. Route Number which is unique in nature.
2. Total Stop between Source and Destination Station.

Conclusion:

In our project railway system we have all the information saved regarding the
train, passengers, tracks, where and how The Train moves, station, schedules,
routes and what it consists of. We had considered the most important
requirements only many more features and details can be added to our project
in order to obtain even more user-friendly applications. These applications are
already in progress and in future they can be upgraded andmay become part of
Amazing Technology.
