Descriptive Outlining
I. Simple Category
A. Case
1. The case is nothing more than a big hunk of plastic that houses
everything.
2. Some of them have more or less physical space.
3. Some of them have different parts where you can put screws.
4. Case really does is provide a nice enclosed system for everything else.
B. Power supply
1. This part of your computer almost always located on the bottom is the part
that plugs into the wall and provides all of the other parts with the
electricity needed to do their thing.
2. An extremely advanced AC adapter.
C. Mother Board
1. Is a wide and flat circuit board that all of the other components plug into.
2. It is the part that lets all of these components to send electrical current
composing data between each other.
3. Not particularly expensive, the mother board is arguably the most
important component because without it you’d have nowhere to put
anything else.
II. Complex Category
A. CPU
1. also known as the central processing unit or processor.
2. Is where your computer does things
3. It isn’t really capable of storing very much data at all.
4. It is very good at doing things with data, quickly reading it, arranging it,
doing the type of quick and massive calculation needed to run your
program.
5. This is where most of your programs are essentially run from.
6. It is often referred to as the “Brains of the Computer”
7. It is just the center part of the computer’s brain, basically everything that
happens your computer goes through your CPU.
B. RAM
1. RAM stands for random access memory and is often referred to as just a
memory.
2. Is another form of storage, it stores the exact same kind of data as your
hard drive.
3. Sacrifices storage space for nearly instant accessibility unlike your hard
drive which sends all of its data through a tiny little thin wire.
4. Is arrange in these long fence sticks that inserted to your mother board.
5. Allows you to run intensive programs.
C. Hard Drive
1. Is often referred to as a disk drive or storage
2. Is where all of your data is stored.
3. When your computer you you’ve running low on space it’s because your
hard drive is almost full
4. All of the data that makes up your videos, pictures, documents, project
files or 3D worlds and models that make up a game are all stored here.
5. Can store lots of data but they’re relatively bad at accessing that data
quickly, everything is accessed through a tiny little wire.
6. Isn’t going to be able to constantly give your CPU the information it needs
to run certain programs.
7. It Allows you to have more installed programs like more of the data they
are referencing whether it be pictures, videos and even mods.
D. Graphics Card
1. Is also known as a GPU or graphics processing unit.
2. Essentially an entire computer in and of itself dedicated to the sole task of
figuring out what pixels need to light up on your screen.
3. Figure out what is supposed to look like based on what color or time.
