Work at height & Use Of PPE

1. **Hazards**
- **Falls from Height: ** The most common hazard when working at height, which

workers below.
- **Unstable Working Surfaces:** Scaffolding, ladders, or other platforms that are
not properly secured can lead to falls.
- **Weather Conditions:** Wind, rain, or icy conditions can increase the risk of
slips and falls.
- **Electrical Hazards:** Contact with overhead power lines or electrical
equipment can cause electrocution.

2. **Risks**
- **Severe Injuries or Death:** Falls from height are one of the leading causes of
workplace fatalities.
- **Struck by Falling Objects:** Workers below the height work area are at risk of
being struck by tools or materials.
- **Equipment Failure:** Faulty or improperly used equipment can increase the
risk of falls.
- **Legal and Financial Risks:** Non-compliance with safety regulations can result
in legal action, fines, and increased insurance costs.

3. **Control Measures**
- **Risk Assessment:** Conduct a thorough risk assessment before any work at

4. Do's and Don'ts

Do's:

Don'ts:
- Don't Rush: Avoid rushing or taking shortcuts when working at height, as this
can increase the risk of accidents.
- Don't Overload Platforms: Do not overload scaffolding or working platforms
with materials or equipment beyond their capacity.
- Don't Work in Bad Weather: Never work at height during adverse weather
conditions, such as high winds, heavy rain, or icy conditions.
- Don't Use Damaged Equipment: Do not use damaged or faulty fall protection
equipment, ladders, or scaffolding.
- Don't Lean or Overreach: Avoid leaning or overreaching when working at
height, as this can destabilize you and lead to falls.
- Don't Work Alone: Always ensure that someone is nearby or that there is a
buddy system in place when working at height.
