Introduction and Overview


Thank you for purchasing Styles Set #49, with 20 great new “Brit 80s Rock” styles for Band-in-a-Box.

For this styles set, we focused on some of the great grooves played by British groups of the 80s. With Styles Set 49, you’ll
get some great new feels as played by the 80s power-groups like DurDur, the Cops, Stingo, Tears, Culclub, YouTwo and
many others. These styles feature even 8ths, even 16ths, 12/8, swing 16ths and swing 8th feels. You’ll find some great
new rhythms and arrangements - a wonderful addition to your existing styles collection.

Please see the following pages for complete styles descriptions.

To easily check out the new styles and demos, open any style in the bb:\Styles49 folder, then, use the Jukebox to audition
the demos and styles. Tip: uncheck “Change Melody Instrument” in the Options for Jukebox dialog. Another way to
check out the styles: press the [Style…] button to get to the Select Style window. If you scroll to the end of the categories
list on the left, you can select the Brit 80s Rock 49 category, then highlight the individual styles and press the [Load Song
Demo] button. It’s a good idea to uncheck “Auto Change Melody/Soloist Patch” so that you’ll hear the correct demo
melody instrument. You can also sort the styles by Styles Set number if you like. More detailed information about each
style is available by pressing the Memo button of the demo tune. The demo tunes for these styles follow the same naming
convention as the styles themselves. For example, the demo song for LONDONER.STY is LONDONER.MGU.

Although most of these styles have 5 instruments, remember that you can easily mute any instruments if you’d prefer a
“leaner” sound. For more permanent changes, it’s easy to delete or replace an instrument in any style. It’s also very easy to
tweak or modify any of these styles in the StyleMaker. Remember to save the style with a new filename so that the
original style is not overwritten. For more information on modifying or creating styles, be sure to check out the Secrets of
the StyleMaker video tutorial.
