Honoring Texas Victims

2023 Family Violence Fatalities

Texas Council on Family Violence identifies Texans were
women and men killed by intimate partners or killed by their
intimate partners
stalking perpetrators annually to honor the
memories of those lives lost and raise aware-
ness of the impact domestic violence has in 64 counties* experienced
at least one domestic
Texas communities. We offer this review to violence homicide
promote effective interventions and communi-
ty responses. 179 female-identified victims

In 2023, 205 Texans were victims of family


violence fatalities. This number includes 179
26 male-identified victims

women and 26 men, including four LGBTQ+


victims. Homicide perpetrators also 4 LGBTQ+ victims

killed 16 family members, friends, or


bystanders and injured an additional 16 additional deaths of
victims’ family members,
friends, or bystanders
12 victims. The victims included four
children who were killed and three
children who were injured. Two hun-
dred eighteen children and adults
lost a parent to domestic violence.
